Depends what finished means in the context of today's Barca. Finished vs a team like Bayern? Absolutely. Finished vs Getafe, Grnada, and Vallecano? Probably not.

Was the argument not that Koeman even with huge injury list should be beating those sides as still had the better players?

Now for Xavi the likes of 38 year old Alves are justified as needed to win those games? Even though injury situation will improve.

Rules constantly change.

This is probably the truth. Same as Suarez.

Sort of. We're talking about players who have such a high degree of talent, that even at a washed-up state, they still can cut it very well vs mediocre teams.

So, I personally wouldn't be surprised to see Alves put up some assists at 38 vs some Elche team at home on Camp Nou.

Didn't Koeman get Luuk de Jong? It's my fault that he asked for a clown to be signed?

That has absolutely no relevance to the point being made as Xavi can have him as well if he likes.

You argued that Koeman even for huge injury list should be beating those sides due to quality of squad.

But for Xavi signings like 38 year old Alves are justified to improve squad for him vs those same sides.

As said would happen. New rules get set.

The argument for Koeman was after he got the players he wanted last summer. It's perfectly normal for every manager to get some requested players. Koeman got them, Xavi is getting one so far, Alves. Of course, within the very low possibilities of the club.

No the argument was from you that the Barcelona squad even with a long injury list was more than good enough to beat those same teams you now think Xavi needs Alves for.

Luuk De Jong is irrelevant as there then and there now and he was part of squad you said was good enough to beat those sides.

You're making stuff up as you go. 1) Saying Alves might do well vs some bottom-table teams does not mean Xavi wouldn't beat those sides without him. 2) Koeman got some signings he asked for, and it's only fair for Xavi to get some players too.

The squad is obviously good enough to beat newly-promoted sides in La Liga, with or without Alves. If that's what you're arguing against, you're clueless.

Nope you said those are the teams Alves can perform against and that Xavi wants him with those level of sides used to justify what use he can be.

When Koeman it was all about squad being good enough to do much better even when injury situation worse than will be soon.

Mental gymnastics as usual.

No one is saying Xavi cant sign anyone. Another irrelevant point.

In before you credit 38 years old Alves instead of Xavi if Barca play better football . Wouldn't put it past you.

Barca beat some weaker sides, 3,4-0? Oh, they got grandpa Alves.

Barca would have roughly the same players. If Xavi will do better it will probably be because he will fix the midfield, which was shit under Koeman.

Makes zero sense.

Try that one again.

Moan about coach not being able to win against certain level of teams due to quality of squad then try to justify 38 year old Alves being needed against same level of teams.

Of course it makes sense. Every player Barca sign from now, even washed up ones like Alves, will be used by the likes of you to justify the eventual improvements in our game under Xavi to discredit Xavi's role. This is an old tactic.
