Darwin Núñez

He is talking of amortization. How it will effectively be accounted for with wages, transfer fee over the contract length.

In terms of Barcelona and him moving to us. We have the 4/1 to worry about right now.

In theory after the 16th and the loans are agreed, then we could offer 100m for Nunez provided we raise the same amount in sales (so Frenkie going for 80m+, 20m already in for Countinho). But you would have to first have Nunez agreed and Benfica willing to wait until late in the transfer market for the deal to potential take place so not ideal for them. Esp when they can get the money and re-invest right now.

But I think the board is thinking more risk aversive and would prefer proven reality like Lewa. Even if Nunez has had an incredible season and has age on his side.

Nunez will be on low wages from what I hear.

I'm interested to see why Klopp wanted him so badly for a long time. I don't rate him much. Think he's a poor man's Haaland.

So now it is official. He is a Liverpool player. Between him, Kane and Haaland... Who will win the golden boot next season?

Tebas has said Barca are under 1/3 rule now for sales.

But not the whole point either as Barca will go with the 'economic leavers' to sign Lewa for more most likely when some try to make out cant afford the fees for likes of Nunez etc.

Depends what think is bigger risk.. a 34 year old in a new league on bigger money with next to no resale value or younger player in Nunez for less on books each season.

Xavi wants a proper lone CF with hold up play clearly. Nunez isn't that. Klopp will be a blessing for Nunez. He can improve under him. Xavi will have to coach a lot out of Nunez to get results. Nunez way too raw for the raw coach Xavi. Lewandowski is the obvious choice for the unproven Xavi. Infact, I believe Barca Young attackers would learn more from Lewy than from Xavi.

Time will tell but the point is about what Barca can afford this summer and how much they will pay for players when some want Lewa and in next turn say Nunez is too expensive.

We are obviously thinking short term. The Lewandowski move is fine as long as they have a strong idea of someone with world class potential coming from behind him (we don't).

If Nunez continues as of last season though, then it is a fantastic move for Liverpool. But he could also have a period of adaption as his first season in Portugal was.

Many talk about Nunez's bad first touch but forget that this dude has eyes for goals, good finishing ability and can dribble. Check his goal vs Barca, step over then score.

Should've listend to Suarez.

Really worried about going into this season with Nunez as the starting CF.

Yeah goals aren't that big a problem because Salah is still there but Nunez's dreadful hold up play(yup, it's awful) will mean that the chance creating system for our wide players might lessen.

In Klopp we trust though.

Let's see if this one is worth the money or if he end's up as another meh 100M transfer.

Grealish, Lukaku, Felix, Griezmann, Coutinho, Hazard, Dembele...so far most of these big deals didn't end up being all that successful. Bale, Pogba, Juve buying Ronaldo for 100M and Higuain for 90M also not that amazing. Could even argue about Neymar there considering he's by far the most expensive one.

Pogba was total flop and the amount Real fans hate Bale, it's a flop too. (Even though great results)

Ronaldo only real jackpot

Crazy. Money definitely don't guarantee you great success. Always risk involved.

Btw, we can also add Neymar. He failed.

Mbappe was great transfer for PSG.

Goals from CF have never been the main source of your attack. As long as the wings are functioning (and especially Salah) then the should be fine.

Darwin having to hold up versus Liverpool and for Liverpool are two different things. Liverpool will give him so much more outlets and support than being at Benfica against top tier teams.
