David Luiz

30-32 million and I think its a done deal. Mou doesn't seem to rate him very highly and I don't think he wouldn't sell him as long as we came with a fair offer for him.

All I'm saying is remember all the grief Neymar got on here before he came? Everyone was convinced that he would be a flop and would never succeed here. So much for that lol :neymar:

Again, not saying there aren't good options (I certainly wouldn't be upset with a frugal approach like Benatia + Mangala, Musacchio + Mangala etc.) elsewhere but I just think Luiz would do very well with our style and particularly playing with Neymar, Dani and Adriano. That's the future of the club, bringing the joga bonito of Ronaldinho's era together with Pep's tiki-taka. That's partially why I think Rafinha (should have been Thiago...) I think is destined to be our next big MF because he embodies both styles.

Anyway, Luiz has a lot of Champions League experience, something Benatia nor Mangala or any other CB we have been linked to have a lot of. That's what I'm most concerned with and is why I favor either Luiz or Hummels first before we get a young prospect CB. The pressure, concentration and level of play is much higher in a Champions League knockout game than in Serie A or Liga Portuguese and we need an option who is proven to cope and perform at that level.

Say what you will about Luiz but he always elevates his game at the big stage, something you can't necessarily say about Hummels either. It's that experience and his performances at the big stage is why I am such a big proponent of Luiz. That sort of poise and experience at that level will be invaluable to the squad and there is no reason why we couldn't get another CB along with Luiz.

2 CBs, TS and either a fullback or #9 and we are golden.

Agree !!! Also something that's never mentioned is his goal scoring is quite good for a defender. He's always a threat from set pieces and he's got a great long shot :)

No chance that we are going to get him this summer. He already said last season that it is up to the clubs to decide and :mou: won't sell him to us. And if he does, not under 45m and this is too much for Luiz even though it'd be interesting to see him at Barca.

I think he'll be a Barça player before the wc. He's the more likely candidate.

But Mangala plays for Porto, I don't understand this.

Mourinho likes Luiz's ability as a footballer, but he doesn't trust him as a defender, and he wants specialist midfielders not a defender who can play as one. When Luiz concentrates he can be excellent in defence, but he has too many lapses.

Yeah and they lost in a very winnable group for them. Mangala played a whole six games in the group stage while Benatia hasn't even played the Champions League.

Meanwhile, sideshow's posing on dem haters:

We should buy him before the World Cup because I expect him to be very good in the WC like in the Confederation Cup and his price will increase a lot.

I don't want Luiz but can someone explain why this forum is in love with Sergio Ramos yet hates Luiz' guts? They are essentially the same player. lol

Maybe they didn't watch Ramos after Euro 2012 ? He is constantly lowering his level to catch up Luiz's one.
