Can anyone point to a recent player that gained in value at barca and was sold? They waste more money in transfer fee losses than most of the the other clubs have in their entire budgets.

The players that gained in value and have been a success would have no reason to get sold really.

Barcelona could sell plenty of players for profit if they wanted to.

It seems like he wanted Champions League football. Spurs or Liverpool would have paid double what he went for no problem.

Would they be willing to demolish their wage structure? Probably not. Villa was earning almost 3 times as much as he should have been on, and that severely reduces the transfer fee (in addition to his contract having only 9 months left of course).

He makes a good point though. Alba and possibly Pique are the only two players out of the 25 players or so we have bought in the last few years I can think of that have actually improved during their stay with us. We tend to buy players with their best years behind them.

One of the main reasons we usually give away our players for free or dirt cheap, see Botia (free), Romeu (a couple of millions and a bag of snacks) and dozens more, is because of the sky high wages we offer our players compared to other clubs. It dramatically reduces any transfer fee we are likely to get. Thats why Bojan will be loaned for 4 years until his contract is up while we will continue to pay most of his wages. No buyers available. We have a tendency to offer any player that has a good season with us an improved contract. Its been a regular occurance for many, many years. And if that player has a poor season, the contract of course remains the same.

The flip side of that is that there are many players at Barcelona that could earn a lot more elsewhere.

I dont think the wages the likes of Botia and Bojan are on would/will be big at all.

Why is that a flip side?

It has been explicitly stated by many approaching clubs that wages is a huge obstacle for any transfers that we are looking to make. If Bojan had gone to Betis, we would probably have paid around 90% of his wages. Barca demanded that the loaning club paid at least 50% of his wages. Of course, we wanted to sell, but thats impossible with no club willing to pay what he is on.

Well he is a good player but surely not world class anymore since his injury. But the fee is ridiculous, should the club be sensivite for a player that asks to somewhere for so low fee? Not for me cause actually first you think of yourself and then for the other,it may look egoistic but when its about business there shouldnt be any emotions

Anyone think there may be a possibility that Oliver Torres may be somehow included in this deal? Even if it's something as simple as first refusal, find it hard to believe its a simple straight up transfer for such a low fee, regardless of his wages.

Atletico would be fools to give up a star like Oliver for Villa when they could easily have gone for a different striker.

Sorry?

Villa is getting everything he wants out of this deal!

He is staying in Spain at a CL club and getting a massive wage for a club like Atletico to pay a 32 year old.
Its a goddamn terrible deal for the club,so give him to where he wants and get so few money?
