With the buys we are pretty good for the most part, with the exception of the Ibra deal. The Neymar deal is wait and see. I think he'll play well but whether he turns out to be worth 57 million is what I still question.

The problem with us is that we have a tendency to lower a lot of our player's values once they leave and as such end up selling them for much cheaper than we get them.

Just because it's less bad than some of the examples you stated, doesn't equate to "fantastic". Cesc & Alexis although they are regular players for us haven't been extremely impressive. Alba/Song are good ones, Neymar too early to tell.

The improvement in the transfer market has been fantastic.

His current value was somewhere close to 8-10m, not 5.1 that can be even 2.1 ...
Villa's case is another financial disaster for the club.. And it is exemplary of the non-existing policy on the matter..
Laporta bought him in 2010 for 40m, when he was already 29! His price back then was maximum 25m, and the management managed (!) to pay as much as Valencia wanted..
Beside that, when summer of 2011 Chelsea offered something like 30m for him, no one at the club considered this offer seriously.. Even though it was evident since second half of 10-11 that he was in decline. Even though everybody knew he was 30 years old, and even if there was a questionmark on whether he can play well for 1-2 more years (which never happened), no one thought that it is the right time and price to SELL, and buy too young wingers (instead of one that eventually came -> Alexis) for the future..

Do you honestly think 29 year olds Villa and Henry for a combined total of well over 100m euros incl wages was great? I think it was outrageous to pay that amount for one good season from players with their best years clearly behind them. This has not been the policy of this administration, however. All our players have good value in the market, years after buying them and we havent been anywhere near buying a flop on the scale of the Laporta disasters.

How would you try and get more money for him now though?

Spend 40m on a 29 year old with a contract that goes up to 11m when he is declining is the problem. It is not the current boards fault.

10 years ago was still under laporta and yes i would. pay that for villa and Henry because they helped us win 2 cl and how many leagues titles playing big big parts,

rosell may not have any disaster but he has had no truly great success either, maybe masch but that's it.

firstly song and neymar were not good deals from transfer fee point of view song is worth like 13 mill max.

song,cesc,adriano,sanchez have all been meh at best thus far laporta signed players that had a big impact on the pitch no denying are arguing about that
