Well, I wasn't at the stadium but the whistles were very loud and sounded like they weren't isolated. Even the commentator who had no reason to be biased took time to comment it.

I'm not so sure if the crowd were whistling Villa himself or just him being an Atletico player. Atletico's tactics were pretty dirty and tonight's game was a very frustrating one as a Barca fan. If Barca happen to be a couple goals up against Atletico when they visit us in the league I reckon he would get applauded.

When the teams were announced every Atletico player was booed and whistled loudly but it dropped and most people clapped when Villas name was announced.

When he went off there some more whitsles for him but most people did nothing or clapped. Think the whistling was influenced by the thuggish Atletico behaviour as much as anything.

There were whistles, but only from a part of the crowd. But either way, the reaction of the crowd at the stadium is no measurement of right and wrong. Villa never did anything wrong to the club or the fans. In fact, he's been very respectful since day #1 and continues to be. He doesn't deserve hostile treatment. He was pushed out of the team in order for Neymar to be brought in and everyone can see that.

My friend was at the stadium, I'll ask her tomorrow about the booing/whistling. I think a few are looking too much into the whole "loyalty" thing though, but that's just me.

Yeah the fans are the supreme and unbiased judge jury and executioner of a players behavior and character.right? The same fans who boo cesc and alexis every other match.? You should know Bojan you deal with unreasonable fans everyday on this forum
Villa didn't do anything to disrespect barca. Need I remind you that he doesn't owe anything to barca since this isn't his boyhood club and the way he was treated by tito. The boos may also have been due to Atletico's rough pay or simply due to the fact that our team was struggling against them and fans were frustrated with our performance and venting their feelings. Whatever maybe the cause it doesn't justify the boos nor does Villa care about them or should care

Yeah, friend said it wasn't as bad in person as some seem to be making it out to be. It's just like sometimes from TV how it seems like an entire stadium is doing racist chants or whatever when it's usually just scattered or coming from one or two sections.

Bojan seems to have some sort of agenda against Villa!

Anyway hopefully David scores his first league goal today.

What is it with you people that you always think someone has an agenda against a player because they criticise him? He has a different opinion from you, just accept it.

Even on TV it didn't sound to me like a hostile crowd towards Villa. I think the crowd knows he would have stayed had he gotten more playing time and they understand.

Plus, if your playing against BARCA and you score against them... Many still consider us the best. I think scoring a goal against the best warrants an epic celebration. And in Villa's case there was alot of pent up anger towards certain people in the coaching staff that no longer believed in him and didn't give him playing time. I understand it completely.

You just need to look at his posts to see it's more than just an opinion...

Just notice you were agreeing with him, that explains a lot... Crying over him celebrating a goal.

No, it's an opinion, nothing more. And I agreed with him because it's unusual for a player to celebrate a goal against an ex-club like this, especially if you won everything with that club, the fans admired you and many see you as a club legend. In my opinion it's disrespectful and many football fans I spoke to agree with me, if you don't please stop acting like a douche. I won't argue with you anymore, it's useless.

On another note, class finish from Villa for his first Liga goal at his new club. Atlético are looking better every day.

His value must have jumped to around 20 milions after this match, how in earth we let such a player go for 5 millions only

I'm acting a douche? You were the one who had a go at me first when it had nothing to do with you! If you can't handle a reply then don't quote and have a go at someone in the first place.

There hadn't been a post in here about Villa for days and Bojan popped up again slating him, says it all....

Anyway Villa showing why he's still a class act, been brilliant so far this season, especially his link up play and passing.
