Why are you bringing a pointless argument to the surface again? Everybody has a different reasons and mentality to celebrate or not celebrate. Barcelona was not Villa's favourite team. And by the way he's a passionate footballer that celebrates every goal like it's the same kind of importace.

Keep your tone down.
The camp nou crowd gave him an ovation every time he subbed off, Specially in the times when he was utter crap, I can't remember a player having such support apart from abidal, It's not about having your own 'mentality'' of celebration, It's about common decency, Which a player either has or not, And it should be called out when it's absent.

And what exactly you wanted, boo him to the end? If you don't support your players on their hard times why are you supporting them on their easy ones? It was an important goal which was in a Super Cup game for his new team. It may be important for himself but one of the reasons that he celebration so passionately was that he finally found an established place in his favourite position scoring against a team that in his last season wasn't trusted too much and didn't end up well for him. I don't see any reasons for him not to celebrate, i think he said he respects the team but never said he loves it. You get a different tying with every team and Valencia will always remain his favourite.

Mmmmmm i wonder why didn't Fabregas and alexis get the same type of support when they were utter crap...........Nice try.
Favorite position?, Wasn't trusted?, What is this has to do with anything, Players refrain from celebrating to avoid offending the FANS, The previous fans, Because it's them that loved him, And like or not, Villa even in his last season remained one of the most loved players by cules, And he know this.
There is nothing complicated about this, It all comes down to simple common decency, Fortunately the camp nou crowd gave him a good slap back, In the 2nd leg, Deserved.

Still amazed some are so hurt that he rightfully celebrated scoring a goal against us. He plays for another team now and the goal he scored was not only a golazo but it was an important goal.

Why shouldn't he celebrate?

It's just different point of views. I agree with Garrus, Alves never celebrates against sevilla out of respect for his past there. Villa doesn't think like that. But it is disrespectful to the fans. He had just left.

There is nothing inherently wrong with celebrating a goal, There is nothing inherently wrong with leaving your cola and pop corn on the seats after leaving the cinema hall , When you could have easily carried them and throw them in the trash, It just makes you a douche.

No.

There's nothing disrespectful or douchy about it. He wasn't doing it to rub it in Barca-supporters' face, he was doing it because he was genuinely happy about having done his job well and scoring. Nothing disrespectful about that.

Exactly, just because he doesn't still bleed blaugrana after he left doesn't make him some disrespectful person for celebrating a goal. A lot of times it's instinctive too, his first official goal for his new club, who knows if he was even thinking about who he had just scored against.

I would have a problem if it was Messi or someone like that who left & celebrated against us like it was nothing, but in all honesty I don't really think Villa owes us all that much. Besides, he was playing at home, it's not like he was doing it in front of all our fans, if that was the case I would also think the criticism was more justified.
