Lol what? That Huesca winger made him his bitch, you don't really need tons of match practice to look at least decent agaisnt a 3rd leauge side.

Better than Alves

Sorry, but douglas does not know how to defend. He just has no clue how to do that, he lacks the fundamentals. He played more as a rm/rw for sao paulo, because of that. His crosses are lower than Alves', and he can run, but that's pretty much it. He was exposed against a 3rd division side. Even the alevins know that you don't cross a ball in your own box.

From the Lucho presser that just finished, he was asked about Douglas against Huesca:

"I think he played as well as the rest of the team"

"We played a very strong game early on, we adapted our style to the way our opponents were playing"

"I don't know what has been commented about Douglas".

What was he supposed to say? Everyone played well but Douglas sucked balls big time?

You shouldn't expect a different anwser from Lucho.

He could refuse to comment. It's too much BS to be ok with that. He surely wouldn't slate one of his players, but it's beyond ridiculous this guy is our player. The constant excuses won't help him.

Just deal with it. He will not play much because he's clearly behind Alves and Adriano in the pecking order. Lucho said Bartra RB is also an option so he doesnt have much hope in Doglas, he just doesnt want to say a bad thing on him probably Zubi doesnt want him to.

Lucho never said Bartra is an option.

Hadn't see it. I highly doubt he'll play him there. A couple of months back he refused the same notion, when asked if Bartra could play rb.

yea from his wording it's apparent he was only confirming that Bartra can theoretically play there.
Can't see Bartra playing there unless Alves gets injured or Lucho fundamentally changes plan A

How come, why shouldn't we expect some level of honesty from our coach? Especially in a situation where everyone saw the same thing? He could as Flavia says either refuse to answer, or just say it like it is: that Douglas had a bad game and "needs to work harder to adapt", at least that wouldn't be a complete lie. What Lucho answered was just blatantly false and nothing more than pointless noise, he could might as well just have stood up and taken a dump on the conference table and it would be just as valuable as his answer.

What is even the point of having pressers with Q&As as often as Barca has them if nonsense answers that give absolutely nothing is all we ever get regardless what the question is?

Why should he say that? These kind of things need to be kept private, between player and coach. Publicly saying a player didn't have a good game is utterly useless for the team, on the contrary it creates a bad atmosphere, and it's the team that matters, not the media, or the fans' thirst for having their opinions confirmed.

Welcome to modern football, my friend. If you think Pep or Ancelotti or any other top manager is even remotely honest with the press, think again.

The BS is always the same, but there are several ways to handle it. Anyhow at this point the club is completely trapped by this situation. And the recent cases when the board played the innocent card didn't turn out so well.

Managers dont come out and slaughter their players. Even refusing to comment would be ridiculous and probably worse then admitting he was poor.

Pep and all top managers do this all the time and protect their players regardless of whether it is their true opinion or not.
