Erling Haaland

Got to be careful with pure speedsters. Guys like Nicolas Pepe* went for 80m and he has looked by large average of Arsenal. Dembele went for... never mind.

I think for Barcelona we have to start looking at players who are fast but technically great in small spaces. It is a small expensive window, largely kept closed thanks to an over reliance on the greatest of all time.

Back to Haaland, he can play both. But what you are paying for is the conversion rate. Ruud done pretty fantastic in LaLiga, and I think Haaland has a more complete game, even if it is build around pure atomic power.

*Yes I wanted him back then too.

Every attacking player who has speed, indeed.

Yeah but I often feel its why we are easy to beat for big teams. Quick counters, set pieces and get physical.
Unless you have Pep's barca players will always struggle to be great while easily be better for say Madrid.
Dembele would be better there.

I feel like ideally you have a combibation of all with posession being the main way. Like some hybrid mma fighter rsther than an average boxer.

You don't need MMA players. Just have your coach grow a pair and tell everyone on the team their premium privileges are gone and they're required to work their asses off. Meanwhile improve stamina in training accordingly. You can have a 5ft7 dude play like a terrier once he stops worrying about sweat drops melting the hair wax.

This team will HAVE TO ADAPT to Haaland not the other way around. When you have a player like Haaland you build around his strengths. Pep did that with Messi too.
Haaland is not a system player. He is a force of nature and the best striker out there.
Messi likes playing behind a genuine 9 and I can see both of them being very successful if he comes.
Messi can be an absolute pass master when needed and Haaland can take alot of pressure of Messi and free him up. Then you have Fati, Trincao and Dembele who can provide decent support.
If Haaland doesn't come here Fati should be our nine and switch sometimes else to the left wing.
Gabriel Jesus is decent but for some reason he reminds me of Sonny Anderson, a guy who never looked comfortable here.

Doubt either of them is moving this summer. Mbappe will sit his contract out and probably join Madrid next year. Dortmund will qualify for CL and keep Haaland until 2022 till someone triggers his release clause, my guess is ManCity.

Ever notice how many players are more suited fir a counter based style compared to a posession one.

Most players play for teams other than the few elite ones. Elite teams play possession football as they control games. Maybe Liverpool would be an exception, but they started using Klopp's style when they weren't elite level.

Just about all the CL winners have been the best if not best 2/3 teams in world on the counter.

Even Peps teams were the best in world on the break when got the chance. That has been more important for winning CLs than possession sides although ideally want to be able to do both.
