Erling Haaland

The question is can they coexist with a 3rd forward in a 433? Ansu-Haaland-Griezmann (given Messi leaves)? I am really not sure. Copying France or Atleticos setup would suck, especially over a whole league season.

I just hope we look at other talents if Haaland doesnt materialize (quite likely). I would be just as excited for Malen, Daka etc pp.

Couple of things here; first I understand your worries about Halaand and I share many of them, but the thig is, Halaand and Mpabbe has set themselves apart from any other player of their generation, no player under 26 comes close to them and both excels in football most important skill:goal scoring.
For that the team might be the one who have to fit the player, rather than the player having to fit the team.

OTOH, I don't get going after Malen or Daka. Fati will sooner or later transform into his natural position as striker, and Messi excels now playing in Central role, even with no no9 in front of him.
Why go after a striker if he isn't a generational talent then?

Even if Messi leaves, I would prefer an upgrade on LW and move Fati centrally.

Also knows to play one two touch.

Goal vs Sevilla is example

That goal is pretty represantative for him I feel. Haaland doesn't carry the ball much, but he is absolutely down for some quick one-twos to then run into position to receive it again.

We'll most likely play a 3-4-3 like we did vs PSG away. If we buy Haaland and going with the 3-4-3, I would play the following lineup

MATS---Bob, Araujo, Firpo ---Dest, DJ, Pedri, Alba---Messi, Haaland, Ansu

BVB want 150m for Haaland this upcoming window. Good, good. A bit expensive, but good to know that they are willing to sell. I would assume that he is going to cost about 120m only if he does not have a clause in 2022.

To be honest the best thing for us would be him staying there another year. With a year to prepare and sorting out our finances, fans coming back to the games and all that we'll be in a better position to pay his 75m release clause and can negotiate directly with him and Raiola.

I'm not sure if he'd be willing to stay another season at this rate though.

If that is the price, then there is no freakin way we are able to buy him this summer.

This summer, prioritize selling the deadwoods with huge wages and go all in for haaland in summer 2022 (unless of course he moves to another club this summer)

Depends. Some say that he does not actually have one; however, if he does indeed have one and BVB fail to make it into the top 4, then I think we should try to sign him this summer. 2022 will be a bit more complicated to get him.

Well then, who can buy him for this price?

100 mil is top price for him. Doubt that BVB will rather take 75 then 100mil this year.

If he doesn't have a clause for this summer, Raiola will rightfully advise him to wait until the clause is active and get paid more for themselves.

They will probably try to undercut BvB in terms of money they will receive for the transfer. Doubt in any way Dortmund will receive much more than the 75m stipulated in the clause, maybe 10-15 more but that's it.

At the same time, Dortmund might decide that keeping Haaland for one more year is worth more than 10-15m. I can imagine they are sitting well financially.

This will be like 2013 Neymar to some extent. A lot of money will end up in Haaland's and Raiola's pockets.

Dortmund will want to sell him while his price is over the moon and before the clause activated, whether it's 75m or 100m in 2022. 120m+ is ridiculous price that only Barca and PSG have paid so far, I don't count Atletico's fee for Joao Felix, all in all it was the Griezmann money we paid Atleti. I don't see Bayern, City or Real Madrid paying that sum, especially in COVID dire straits.:boss:

Won't hurt to try for him this summer. For this calibre of player you try to sign him as soon as possible. Either way, a lot of dead weight needs to be shipped out this summer and all the other signings will be free transfers. Whether we can afford to make Dortmund a good offer this summer or not doesn't have much bearing on the rest of the work that needs to be done.

Also we don't know to what extent that rumoured 75m release clause is binding. Is it a La Liga style one where if a club deposits Dortmund the money the player is automatically released, or more of verbal/gentleman's agreement?
