Erling Haaland

If the 75m clause next summer is true they are dumb as fuck. They could have got 100+ for Sancho too but kept him, probably wouldn’t get over 60m now.

Not really.

When players like Coutinho are going for 145m plus..... then Haaland is easily worth more. Besides, Mbappe went for 180m a few years back. They should demand as much as they can before the release clause becomes active. I think they would rather take a risk of losing him next season for less if it means they can get back in the Champions League next season. They won't get 180m for him, but I suspect they'd easily get 130m for him.

They don't need to sell him. They're not in terrible debt. He's their best player, and he's also very young.

If the clause is true, anything over 75m won’t even go to Dortmund. Will go to Raiola and possible signing on fee to Haaland.

Dortmund gets every bit of that 75m euros. The release clause technically isn't 75m euros in any case..... it's more like 100m with the signing-on fees for him and his agent.

One would think BBZ would stop using AM and Juve in his CL arguments when these 2 teams have combined for a grand total of 7 CONSECUTIVE CL finals Ls and 0 wins over the last 25 years. And have a history of losing to bums like Porto, Lyon and the like.

Attack is the way to win the CL. Not defense. Having an above average defense is a must though, but that's common sense.

loooool, well put. there is no coming back from this bbz, lmao

Contract length and other terms have great influence on fees. Haaland being 'worth' more doesn't mean all that much with a 75m clause valid next summer. Dortmund refusing to sell for anything less than 180m means Haaland's season is worth more than 100m to them. Pretty dumb if they don't hope to extend or something.

But I don't think it's true. They're just trying to get the most out of it.

The thing with Haalands worth to Dortmund is that objectively they do not have the quality in the squad for close to guaranteed CL qualification. And when you take Haaland outv of the mix, then they might individually not even be a top 4 team in Germany anymore. Potentially missing out on CL qualification is not just depreiving them off the 30m initial UEFA payment, but it also affects further price money, valuable sponsorship agreements, TV money and of course the quality of players Dortmund is able to attract on the market.

Dortmund is heavily dependent on making the CL each year, as missing out on that throws them multiple years back in their growth. And now they are already struggling WITH Haaland who is likely the only player that can still get them there, so it's hard to imagine them reaching it without him.

Not bad news for us if they'll rather let him leave next summer for 75m. Would be much easier for us to afford it next year with some of our major revenue streams likely to be back in play once we reach the last few stages of the pandemic and enough people in Spain/Europe have been vaccinated to allow for fans being back.

We'd still need a striker though. Perhaps 20-30m for someone like Patson Daka could be in play while we offload some of our useless players that are on high wages. Build that backline, get another winger maybe. Maybe a midfielder.

That only applies if Haaland leaves BVB as a free agent, which is unlikely to happen.

Few clubs will pay the clause , but raiola will want money like his father.

75 for BVB and 25 for father and raiola

But Dortmund almost always managed to recover and get back on top (below Bayern though) after they lost their biggest stars and players. If they can get 180m from Haaland this summer (not that I want them to sell this summer), they can use the money to plug the holes, especially with regard to their defense and midfield, and buy some promising attacking players as they always did.

I also think the danger of Dortmund missing the CL next year without Haaland is overstated. Frankurt might lose Andre Silva, their top scorer this summer; Wolfsburg's resurgence this season and its moving up in the standings in the past two seasons seemed to be the outcome of the arrival of Wout Weghorst, he is getting older and probably will be less effective. In the coming seasons Dortmund might very well finish behind both Bayern and Leipzig, but in my opinion it will take something of a major scale for them to miss the CL.

Dortmund are setting there price to negotiate from.

You can either offer 180m for him now (whatever is their lowest acceptable offer), or 75m in a year where you will have more competition.

When you factor in Raiola's cut and that Dortmund will also have to reinvest in replacing Haaland (and who is there with potential bar maybe Patson?) Then it is not all that simple.
