Alvarez will not bench Haaland lol. They might start together though.

Calma everyone.

First of all, I never said he WON't score a lot. Look back at my posts here.
He has the best machine cooking at his service. It would be epic fail for him not to score a lot.
Pep is also not an idiot to not figure out a way to get the best out of him.
(Proof for that is that I have him - and captained him tonight - in my EPL fantasy team )

But the question is if the best out of haaland is the best for City.
he makes City so much more predictable, and more limited against top opponents, he is one dimensional
City since 2020 were more about less directness, more intricate connections, more patience around the pen box. Haaland cancels all that.
It's all good and nice vs the Palaces, the Bournemouths, and the Forests of EPL. Let's see the Haaland effect, though, in CL and against the EPL big 6

Scores 9 goals in 5 games, back to back hat-tricks, brought 7 points out of 15 with his goals.
Conclusion: Is he the right thing for City?

Now we're already moving the goal posts, only games in the CL and EPL top 6 count. Are we keeping the same standards for all players or just one?

Look up my posts since MArch where I criticize Haaland's abilities and the hysteria around him.
Never said he is NOT gonna score goals, especially against the common EPL fodder.

We don't know yet. If they win the CL with him being responsible for that, yes you will be right.
If not, I don't know. Is he?
Would EPL be enough? Were they not winning almost all EPLs before Haaland??
Think about it

One big question still remains: did you only get Haaland in your fantasy and made him captain after his last hattrick or before?
I am pretty sure I can guess which one. So yeah, it could be proof, proof of you having been wrong.

Had him after the first matchday, when I got rid of Salah and bought Haaland.
Saw the trend correctly there...

And Salah staying quiet on the contrary

So you did not think Haaland would score a lot of goals at the start of season, but the "trends" you picked up on after GW1 is what made you swap Haaland for Salah.
Am I getting this right?

But wait, how many touches did he have and was he able to nutmeg defenders in tight spaces? Pass and move for the 2nd goal was class.

Stays healthy and he takes the most goals scored in a single PL season in his debut campaign. Also breaks Shearer's 260 with eyes closed if lad can be arsed to stay in England.

Mbappe is still the better all round player, but did not do himself any favours accepting the bribe to stay in France. That being said, Erling could improve the other areas of his game massively as he develops under Pep and hardens under the strength of the Premier League. Barring another World Cup/CL triumph Haaland will be widely viewed as the better player by season's end.

No.
I thought he would score a lot, but had only 1 expensive spot left on my team and gave it to Salah.
After GW1, I reconsidered, sold Salah and bought Haaland

He is a very "modern" type of attacker, no flair, no magic on the ball, just absurd physicality and efficiency, but it works.

Not complaints from me though, never imagined a striker this good coming from Norway.
