Erling Haaland

He's almost 23, which was Messi's age at the beginning of 10-11 season

Leagues apart. almost 23 year old CR7 was also a level above Haaland.

If you expecting anyone in our lifetimes to match (or even come close) to Messi and even CR level, especially at a certain age, you're in for a rude awakening. I know people love to hype up their generation, wishing that a player from their generation would go on to become the best (ever), but in football that's over. We're likely not gonna see a better goal scorer than CR, and we're most definitely not gonna see a better all around player than Messi for as long as we live (or at least until we're all little grey men). Maybe in 30-40 years, kinda like Messi and CR came after Pele and Maradona. But god knows what football is gonna look like then with all the new rules almost every year.

Mbappe vs CR7 is a comparison that at least make sense, same position, similiar enough playstyle.

Haaland is not someone you can compare CR7 with, and least of all Messi.

Peak CR7 was way way more complete.

Arguably the most complete attacker ever. Between him and Pele I guess.

He had an insane long range shot from anywhere and was one of the biggest aerial threats ever too. Plus he used to be amongst free kick takers in the world in his pomp. Mbappe lacks all those things CR7 possessed.

Peak CR7 had it all. Goals, Assists, Dribbles, Strength, Pace, Heading, Skills, FKs, Pens, Footy IQ, etc. You name it......

His completeness isn't talked about enough honestly.

Except that he wasnt complete. He was never a great dribbler and relied greatly on his world-class team-mates to create for him. Yes, he could shoot from the distance and take freekicks but he missed a shit-load of them too. He didnt achieve that great success trophy-wise until he was 29 -and at that age he had already changed his game to a mere poacher. He was at his best in 2008-2013... and he didnt win dogshit at that time period.

He was at his best until 2014, he won 2 UCL between 08 and 14, in his best period as a player(really started more in 07), a league title in United, a league title at RM.

Not the most glorious trophy collection, but keep in mind his peak also happened to be Barcelonas peak, it was not easy to win much domestically then.

His dribbling was actually great up until 2010, he actually dribbled a lot in his first season at RM, after that it was merely decent.

We get it mate.

You don't like players with a big ego or personality unless they are complete cartoons and a caricature having Balkan roots like Zlatan. It's cool.

He's the perfected version of RVN, bigger, more pace, but both limited outside the box.

Though RVN had a class touch & control.

Mbappe, haaland is the Henry, RVN of today.

To compare them to Messi & Ronaldo is a no no

Mappbe comes closest though, but he's the perfected Henry in reality.

Very well put and I agree. Haaland really isnt that special after coaches and defenders started to take notice. RVN with steroids is the perfect summary about him. Mbappe is a lot like Henry yes.... Not quite as good as of now but yes, strong similarities.

Henry was better on the ball and more gifted as a footballer, but Mbappe is definitely the better big game player tbh, atleast when it comes to decisive goals.

Kind of lost a gear as the season progressed. Or the games got tougher and the opponents figured him out a bit.
