If he doesn't have an interest to play in Spain, I understand this move. He'll sign his retirement contract with 24 already.

His interest might have been Madrid only, not Barca.
He now saw they got Mbape, and the status quo won't change the next 5 years to say the least.
Hence, release clause around 2029

But the real news is something else:

Why do City hand a fat contract (prob the highest paid ever in the EPL) RIGHT NOW?
Amidst of a winter window they have already spent some 200m on 3 players?

Do they informally know that they are about to get acquitted for the charges?
Or that they are about to receive a penalty that will look more like a caress (as they did by UEFA)?

Looks like he's not that ambitious to play for a real club but everyone has their preference.
Someone's dream is playing for fake/state sponsored club, in Manchester.
City isn't any less real of a club then Chelsea or Corner FC.

Not sure how the club is fake when his father played there too.

Don't care about Chelsea either. Your argument is moot.

I did forget his father was in City so fair to him there.

Well by your definition only Barca, RM, Real, Osauna, and Bilbao are real clubs and some from the Bundesliga.

All others are owned by foreign companies or investors.

Thank God. Now Fatty won't go full retard on him.
I'm happy he's signed on for such a long time, no danger of us going in for him.
As a club I think we should always have a young striker who we can develop and an established one too. There seems to be a real paucity of good 9s. Sesko seems a good bet but I'm sure there's some gem out there who we can get for cheap.

City will fall apart anyway. Pep will be gone soon and the players we're carrying are ageing (Gundogan, De Bruyne, etc.) Blondie won't shine without magicians around him.
It's very naive to think that way. They will never fall apart thanks to limitless state sponsoring. It doesn't mean they won't have sometimes a bad time and period, but it will never be for long. They will always buy new magicians when the old ones leave.

Yep but you forgot about their pocket

They already have a load of supertalented kids set to join them in the following years and they have no problem spending milions more if that doesn't go according to the plan

Wishful thinking, they've already started rebuilding and will continue in summer. They'll be back at the top in next years.

Or you know maybe he just wants to play most of his career for a club his dad played for too.

Also definitely helps that City is one of the most well runned clubs in the world.

But haters gonna hate.

I think he has already peaked. The treble season was his peak in goalscoring and trophy winning. He's reliant on athleticism and will likely decline early. Let's be honest, he's awful technically outside the box.

Plus he doesn't fit their team still.

Already commented few days ago that I forgot about his dad but you don't read replies.
