Ernesto Valverde - V1

Oh god Ev apologists still come up with these shitty arguements. So I guess you can't criticize your team at all. Barca can play horseshit and even risk getting relegated some day but if you think something is wrong with barca, you aren't a fan. To be a fan you should keep saying that everything is going perfect and that we will win treble every season.

These 'fans' were right all along dude. You Ev apologists kept running the narrative about how amazing we are playing and how EV knows what we are doing and how we EV crticicizers are just spoilt because we don't play as well as pep's barca blah blah even after how crap we played against chelsea, sevilla etc but were just lucky enough to not lose. We 'fans' saw the roma thing coming from a mile away because we knew something is wrong with us and needs fixing. And guess what, if we play like this next season in la liga and RM decides to not shit the bed there, we will lose la liga too.

Make no mistake I am happy with the double even though RM is going to win CL but I am not going to think we are fine as a team BECAUSE we won the double. The double was misleading as fuck.

Don't mind me I am just a 'fan' here who is criticising the fact that we have so many problems and not claiming we are perfect because I love barca.

You have got to be kidding me. It was never about the trophies, and never have been.

Let's see how Valverde crumble under pressure next season amd see if he can win a double again.

...

Roma was a complete shake your head till it falls off disaster  no argument there. On the bright side, team responded well with a perfect CDR win. Had we played this way vs Roma, we'd have destroyed them as well. So, in theory, no reason to be overly pessimistic unless you're convinced that Valverde will revert to the same defensive 442 and conservative lineups/rotation policy. Between his usual defensive play and our attacking approach vs Sevilla, the difference was light and day. Surely, Valverde himself felt the thrill when setting his players loose on the attack. Why wouldn't he want to repeat it and experience the same rush?

Besides, board would be ultimate cretins if they haven't had a talk with him yet just to make sure that attacking and better rotations is the way to go from now on.

Also, you gotta take into account the upcoming signings and Coutinho being available for next year's CL. Crossing fingers for a few more disruptive, quick and skilled creators in the Midfield that would finally take pressure of Leo and provide him with the service he deserves. If that happens, I'd actually be super bullish for another treble.

We gotta make the right signings though. Having Leo as a player and not surrounding him with top players is a huge let-down not just for Barca but for football in general. This underserving board should've seen themselves as recipients of an amazing gift in Messi and build the best team possible around him, instead of relying on him to save them over and over again. Still can't believe some of the daft signings they've made .

There's only a few years left till Messi hangs it up, so really hoping they finally see the light, get their act straight and sign up good waiters :chef:

Can't we just enjoy the double? We have won only 8 so far, if I'm not mistaken.

Of course Roma game is a shame,we have problems etc., but - you never know what the future holds, today we are top of the league, tomorrow we might be midtable... enjoy the moment.

I agree and I enjoy the double:barcascarf:

Another nightmare performance saved by Messi

Also Suarez and Depo forwards. Look at how many clear chance they have missed. I saw no less than 2, That too high 1 on 1 header and sth around 87 mins.

Our tactic is to let Depo attack untill they loss strength.

He won La Liga and Copa but if he doesn’t change his tactics next year we will be terrible. Next year CL should be our TOP PRIORITY!

Congrats Valverde on Copa and La Liga but please go back to Barca style next year.

Everything is relative, and we all benchmark all the time. This is a normal human behavior. It will make more sense once you understand relativity. We cannot measure the value of something on their own. That's why we tend to compare it with a peer, colleague or a direct rival.

Nothing wrong with comparison, but there is when you have an attitude that it is okey if your life sucks as long as your neighbours sucks as well. But damn, if he gets a new car, I am a failure if i do not get one myself. 2 trophies and possible unbeaten run is an achivement itself and nothing RM or any other team does should diminish it.

CL is the strongest competition in football, teams are playing much stronger teams than in their leagues, thus its very prestigious trophy. Its normal for people to measure success with Madrid winning it and we failing. And its not that hard to be consistent if more than half of the teams you are playing are weak(La Liga). If your enemies are strong its bad for you. You can do 2 things about it- weaken them or get stronger yourself. So... you people can feel happy with La Liga (not even mentioning Copa) but if you think its harder and more prestigious than CL you are lying to yourself. If your goal is to win Champions League and you work towards that goal, you will have a team that can win the domestic league too.

CL is a cup tournament, difference between cup and league is that in 99% of cases the best team wins the league, but not necessarily in cups. Which is why i always rate that tournament higher. Last sentence is especially funny considering how often RM fails to win La Liga. Its what 2 trophies for them in last decade? Also you completely fail my point. Winning double should always be considered a great achievement. If RM win or does not win CL, makes it no less important.
