Better than getting hammered in Anfield . Damn English media and Pl dickriders would have celebrated that for next 30 years

Yeah, that's what i was thinking too in the 2nd half of the game against Roma. The score was 2-0 and i said to myself that it's better to lose 3-0 now (even though it's really embarrassing doing it against the weakest possible opponent) than potentially losing to RM in SF or final and seeing CR celebrating like he saved the world. The only positive we can take from that.

Classico would have been 50/50 . See what happened last week. More than tactics it was down to players who could hold their nerve in big moments. That's what rivalry does . But facing that Liverpool attack in Anfield would have been scary . We would have conceded 4-5 never know

I didn't say RM would have humiliated us, but seeing how we are playing at Olimpico, i was thinking that most likely we will lose against any other team in the SF (not necessarily Madrid). Imagine how Ramos would have celebrated our elimination, or even worse if we would have lost against them in the final. Too much of a risk imo. They would have trolled us forever afterwards.

May be yes . Losing to Real in Cl would have been a dark chapter in our history . It would have been a shame, in a era in which Messi , Xavi ,Busquets and Iniesta played . Our finest generation of homegrown talents

It's something that no team has done before in La liga and in Europe only Arsenal and Juve has done it before . It's a phenomenal achievement . Only dumb heads will field a second string 11 against a inform villareal side

Juve, Milan in the 90s, Arsenal, Celtic and Preston 1880s.

Messi and Suarez must be rested next season. I would only play them against Madrid in 2018. They should not even come back to training before mid-September.

Coutinho Griz Dembele
CM Busquets Alena

I hope Valverde is bold enough to rest them.

That's a bit extreme, but he should really think about playing them one half each / one game each.

Can we bring Xavi as an Assistant Manager? He supposes to retire from football but postponed it until December. If we make him an offer now he might retire sooner.

He will be like Zidane under Ancelotti and will command more respect from players than EV.

Xavi is studying for his coaching badges.

He can continue his studies and examination while being an assistant coach. I think him being around will be a huge boost for players motivation and will influence EV to play more attacking Barca football. It will be a smooth transition for Xavi to fully take over after a year.

If Xavi is going to coach here he should start with Barça B and be judged from there.

Not necessary the only way develop and judge a coach. Zidane started as an assistant coach to Carlo and didn't have the coaching badge yet.
Madrid don’t have a football identity so it could happen in such an instance but Barça decided many moons ago to play a certain way (with a focus on La Masia) and everybody will be judged based on that.

The problem with our recent managers is that they weren’t part of such a programme. Rijkaard, van Gaal, Guardiola and Villanova were though and it showed in how players were brought through the ranks and having a particular style. Rijkaard was the one that stopped the absolute madness of wanting to send Messi on loan.

At this stage there is no better personification or student of said fundamentals than Xavi.

It doesn’t mean he will be a good manager though. So he had best work with the kids first.
