Ernesto Valverde - V1

EV is low key. Doesn't try to act too cocky, does't put extra pressure on him by trying to be a hero. His pressers for example are a collection of platitudes, cliches and safe words, as to not get himself into trouble. Don't know if it is planned, or he's just so simple minded and just lacks the charisma that is very important in establishing a leader image, both inside the locker-room and outside, for the fans and media. And the results alone aren't that bad to be honest as to draw extra heat on him. He's always managed to get some good results just when it seemed he's going to be in trouble. Problem is that Barcelona is supposed to represent more than just ok-ish results with crap to decent football at best.

We were supposed to enter a rebuilding phase where we build a new team with a fresh blood infusion based on some new exciting transfers and also some very good La Masia prospects. What we have here is a conservative manager who tries to patch things on the fly, postponing every idea of rebuilding we've had before signing him. The man just doesn't care about the future of this club. What he wants is some titles on his resume.

Our situation is the same as United's with Mourinho. Instead of going forward, both teams have managers who try to patch things up, hoping they can get some results.

I agree but disagree with that last part. United have a team of midtable/overrated players or just plain washed up like Alexis. Mourinho can be a twat but that team aren't challenging City, Liverpool etc, Mou setting them up to play defensive stoke-like football is because thats all most of their players are capable of. meanwhile, we have a team with world class players, youngsters with HUGE potential, decent depth now AND the GOAT.. we have no excuse to play so shit

Funny thing is Valverde hinted at wanting a replacement lined up in January for Rafinha during the press conference before the PSV game or so.

Despite having someone like Alena, Dembele, Malcom on the team already.

It's shocking seeing the likes of Gerard Romero, celebrate and laugh if Dembele has a horrible game but never say a damn word about the coach of this team.

Said can be said of the rest of the Catalan Journalists. The only criticism I've seen of Valverde recently is them complaining that he doesn't use the B team. Which yeah that's a start but that's where it stops for them.

I mean it's great seeing them speak out about Valverde's lack of trust in youth players but everything else these guys are willing to give Valverde a free pass on.

Gerard Romero can't tell the difference between a troll and a reliable poster on the internet...

I'm seriously thinking of creating a Twitter account, just to troll him.

The catalan journalists have become so reliant on the sources and press credentials that they are never critical of anything related to the board these days. It is quite sad and similar, in a way, to how the MMA media relationship is with the UFC.

They follow the narrative given and don't really question.

Ernesto is quite lacklustre but he is bringing results and keeping all of the boys club playing. The board obviously like him and thus is getting a free pass until we go on a terrible run or win nothing.

Another manager would do everything in their power to develop Dembele. Rijkaard wasnt the best manager, but he was am elite player and knew how to let talents play freely. Valverde lacks this experience. Mourinho also lacks this. For them it is the results business.

To be perfectly honest and not at all politically correct, judging by facial features, many Catalans look like inbreds.

For a guy who plays the same 11 over and over again, he sure wants a stacked bench :D

We should get Wenger as our manager he will at least give a few young players chances, which we need in this transition period with do many of our key players getting up there in age.

Can't be worst that Valverde.

would make alot of sense actually, especially if we sign De Ligt and De Jong. only issue is, would he bow down also to the senior players?

Wenger has a fetish for bringing in talented players so u doubt he would.

He would at least give young players a chance to prove themselves, masia & otherwise.

And we'd see some decent football again

at Arsenal he did yes but Barca is another beast entirely, he'd face 10x the pressure aswell

I'm all for it though, i like the guy and hes for sure an improvement on EV

Catalan journalists have always been clueless and foolish.

I wonder how local Barcelona fans think of Valverde. If they don't have any problems with him then they are equally foolish.
