I see a logic mistake from Messi fans:

They say Messi carried this team on his shoulders to cl semi final and la liga ---> so this team was crap except Messi, right?

But they also say EV should have won the cl ---> so the team was the best in the world?

Either Messi didnt carry this team as it was already top or EV completely overperformed?

Don't think nobody said that though.

More like he should done better in those 2 CL losses.

We were already in semi final....if should have done better it means final ---> so we were a top2 team?

Lets be honest guys, the midfield was: finished Vidal, finished Raki, finished Busi, bad Coutinho....normally you dont surive group stage/R16 with that midfield

Again, we were fortunate with the leads that we got in those Roma and Liverpool game and the team completely botched those fortunes and EV has to take a part of the blame. Imo, he could have made changes that could have positively impacted the game and he didn't.

Those players that you mentioned were obviously not in their prime (not counting Coutinho), but they were still at a good level. If you can't survive the group stage/R16 with that midfield, you have a problem.

Look at the level and the form of the opposition at the time

A Real Madrid team that won 4th CL in 5 years and an Atletico team that won Europa League.... both in his first season in charge.

Indeed.

Barca were top when EV left also and failed to win league with MSN the season before he arrived...opposition must have just been poor in exact time EV was at club..

We're talking about form in La Liga. Most of the CLs won by RM don't have much correlation to their La Liga performance. Look at the points amount. ATM in those 2 years were in their usual total points that ranges in the 70's compared to their prime when it ranges from mid 80's to low 90's. You can't expect to challenge for the title when the total point is around the 70's.

Barca were top of the league when EV left equal on points with RM with a mear 2 goal difference with arguably having played the easier half of the season. We might have won the league if the pandemic didn't happen but it's all ifs and buts.

Can't be up 3 and lose both.

Zero excuses for that, it's unforgivable.

Its all about 'he had Messi' until they lose then all about the coach.

Tale as old as time.

As with being 3 goals up that was on EV and players... as is giving away the lead.

In those four games.. Messi had one good game really for example at home to Liverpool.

We had enough chances against Liverpool to score 1-2 goals, cant give coach the fault if players miss the chances

You must know Soul dude its always easy to say those things after the match, for example in el clasico Xavi changed and we criticised him for that. At ht the score was 0-1, still very good in Anfield considering we had also a few good chances in first half...

In last 9 years this team was one time in semi final and that was in 2019...

People forget how difficult it is to get into the top4, even Luis Enrique only managed it in 1 of 3 times and that with MSN

If Neymar would have stayed at Barca, i guarantee you guys at least 1 more cl, maybe even 2 as EV would have stayed after 2019

Dude in 2019 we had one of the most favorable draws in the decade though. Compared to the times we failed to reach the semis in the 2010s:

2014: City and prime Atletico
2016: Arsenal and prime Atletico
2017: PSG and prime Juventus
2018: Chelsea and Roma
2019: Lyon and washed up United

Without a doubt the easiest R16 opponent and second easiest QF opponent ( the easiest would of course be Roma and look how that turned out )
