There are strong differences of opinion emerging in private between breakaway clubs. One [un-named] executive of a club says: ?This is not what we signed up for.?

lmao florentino screwed everyone :mou:

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has big plans for African soccer.

He wants to create an ?Africa League? with twenty teams from across the continent, and make it one of the ten biggest leagues in the world.

In a recent visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, he claimed the new competition could generate ?at least $200 million in revenue.?

Imagine not knowing what you signed up for though..... Amateur stuff

Imo whoever it is is bluffing now they’ve seen the backlash from FIFA, UEFA, FA, fans etc. Of course they knew what they were signing up for, especially when there’s potentially 200/300m involved.

Heard something about Chelsea and City being told about this like two weeks ago.

Dont know if its true, you would think the owners at the clubs would know about it way before that.

fans? two banners around some stadiums and some people getting mad on internet forums? you are speaking as if there are riots going on all over europe.

nobody gives a shit. maybe the english do as they have strong support even for lower tier clubs. but since ESL isn't about dropping the local leagues and it's just an alternative for the current CL/EL, don't see why would they be so wound up about it.

I said the word “fans” and you think I’m talking about riots all over Europe?  not sure how you got to that conclusion from one word. You seem triggered by it, maybe a take a break for 10 mins from forum and take deep breaths.

Perez has another Idea for the league.

He wants to reduce Game time from 90Minutes to 60Minutes. Also each coach can stop the game for 5 Mins

Don't know if this is a joke or serious.

But average time the ball is in play is around 60 minutes. In effect what this means is that the game time would be the same, just the clock stops when the ball is out of play.

Doesn't some like a concept that would work in football compared to other sports though, but something that should be trialled in a concept tournament somewhere.

It might sound contrary and I don't mean it to come across like it but I think the vast majority of people in this country value the Premier League way more than the CL. I think they would still pick going up and down the country with their mates, drinking in the pubs before the game watching premier league football than go to Europe every other week.

Obviously, I know other countries especially Spain etc view the CL with more regard so It's perfectly plausible they would be fine with it. I guess also because England is relatively small in size, we can travel almost anywhere on train to get to away grounds too.

Then ESL instead of CL wouldn't change much for them.

no, but the way you present it alluded to the fact that fans were influencing the current negotiations between proposed ESL clubs. as if anyone was triggered when UEFA decided to just give 4 CL places to each top 5 league and fucked over the rest of the small clubs around europe who weren't top 5.

Don't think stopping the clock every time is the way to go. I'd support clock stoppage for the last 10-15 minutes though. Nowadays when you have one team defending the result it's very often there is only like 3-4 minutes of real playing time in last 15-20 minutes. Away goal rule should also be canceled imo.

Just two simple rule changes which would make football more attractive again imo. With or without ESL.

The biggest challenge for the ESL is probably what the UK government wants to do about the situation.

Remains to be seen if they will actually take action, but certainly wont rule it out.
