Quite happy to have started watching again
As a semi-hot take - Max is obviously an excellent driver but there's going to be lots of (justified) debate about his actions and the general circumstances surrounding this title win going forward and just how much of a role FIA played
Can't begrudge Max the title at all tho
Hats off to Lewis for immediate reaction. Many would have been utterly raging in the immediate aftermath of this. Instead what he did is graciously accept defeat, congratulate and move away from spotlight.
Whatever happens next season I'll be there to see it

Go on twitter or reddit, the regulations are being discussed all over social media; the rules about lapped cars overtaking is pretty clear. What happened today has never happened in the history of the sport, FIA made up and broke the SC rules on the spot, which is what gave Max the win.
People keep saying Mercedes fucked on the strategy, the strategy WORKED. They were ahead for the entire race. 12 seconds ahead even after Max's second pit. Had traffic between them even after the SC. If FIA followed the the clear rules (which is what Mercedes assumed), then Lewis would've won. You can't insult Mercedes for not accounting for the possibility of FIA breaking regulations in the final lap of the race lmao.
If it was the other way around, guarantee you the same users would have been crying about conspiracy theories or rigged racing like Max did.

Yeah, rules on lapped cars are clear - cars are allowed through normally, happens all the time
Debate isn't on whether it should have happened. It's whether it happened as was supposed and whether it was communicated terribly. Masi said one thing and then it got overturned in heat of moment. In the end seems correct far as I understand the rules
Strategy didn't work.
Toto was crying about safety car or no safety car for 10 laps prior to Latifi crashing.
Whined the moment he saw VSC go up earlier in the race
Don't blame folks for FEELING robbed. I would have. Certainly Merc folks will.
Not clear to me anything was done wrong and there'd be more talk if it were an obvious infringement.

As for lapping, had a looksee and this is what's being argued by some on Twitter

So what really seems like should have happened is all cars should have been allowed to overtake safety car earlier and rejoin the back of the pack ASAP
Only then would safety car have gone
This being lap 57 there was obviously no time to make it work and cars weren't allowed to pass because Race Control obviously thought too much debris out there and people still cleaning up to have lapped F1 cars going at normal speed to rejoin back of the grid
Hence Merc arguing for finishing under safety car
Not surprise Merc fans take this line
Absolutely bricking it for any safety car because of consequences of own decision to not prepare and pit
Kinda cowardly

The end of the race is all because of Netflix and their Drive to Survive. You either let all lapped cars or none. Merc and Hamilton should fell robbed.
