Gg cantera.
How can the board honestly think he did a great job this year? The results were poor & none of the players really developed.

I would say Rafinha, Deulofeu and Luis Alberto all developed and Grimaldo was developing also.

Who out of those players did people expect to kick on?

It seems to be fashionable on here to have an agenda against Eusebio, Rossell and Tito.

Espinosa, Ie.
Also, the defense was shit, which he never really solved.

Was Grimaldo that good this season? In previous years he was rated as a top talent, but I read here in this thread that he regressed this season?

Fair enough but there are not great defenders for him to work with.

The flip side to that is that they scored more than the previous season.

Part of that is that they can still grow, so they should be showing progress, which they not really did.
Also, Eusebio refused to experiment with some other defenders (Bagnack, Ie), but kept playing Lomban who is crap. Ie played something like 4 matches, all in the end of the year, in which he did really good. Eusebio should have played him a lot more and earlier.

Putting a 17 year old in the defence to sort the problems?

That is not the way Barcelona develop their players.

The attacking players like Deulofeu and Rafinha did progress this season.

As long as 2/3 players progress towards the first team sqaud every season that is enough and what it is all about.

Bagnack could easily have been played in at least some of the matches and performed well. Same with Samper considering how badly the midfield was in need of a pivot. Deulofeu progressed in a very individual fashion, same with Rafinha. It's not just about seeing that 2/3 of the players progressing and then saying "good enough, doesn't matter anymore" (in fact barely anyone progressed). He hasn't played the Barca way at all and the attacking players like Rafinha, Deulofeu, and Alberto have been carrying the team. That's not the mark of a successful team who perform as a unit.

Bagnack is fast and physically strong. He doesn't have to play every match, but 5-10 games would be great for him.
Plus, he can't be any worse than Lomban. He might not solve the problems, but at least he still has potential and learns from his mistakes, whereas Lomban doesn't have any future at Barça.

How do you know Bagnack could have played and performed well?

They will finish roughly the same position in the league as they have the last couple of seasons scoring more goals than last.

Do you think it is just the job of Eusebio to decide who gets called up to the b team? It wont be it will be a discussion of the coaches of the different teams.

Personally would much rather have 2/3 players progressing to first team level every season than a bunch of average players playing 'the Barca way'.

Try and do both obviously but developing individual players is more important.
