It's the right type of sponsor for where we want to position the club. Let's see what additional mileage we get with the Spotify platform and their userbase. Could be huge.

Exactly. Maybe they can do podcast or other stuff on Spotify and have even more reach and new customers.

Bayern get 6-7m a year for Allianz naming rights.

Also gotta distinguish between "naming rights" and "title rights" here. Bayern gets 6M from Allianz, BVB 5M from Signal Iduna and Arsenal 10M for Emirates Stadium. These are all naming rights.

Barca "only" sells "title rights", which will name Camp Nou "Camp Nou Spotify" or so. Don't know what Barca will get for it, but it can be considered a decent deal if you compare it to those deals from Bayern, BVB or Arsenal. Of course, Barca is the bigger brand, but you can imagine how much more the club would get for "Spotify Stadium" or so.

This.

There are exciting synergies with Spotify. Barca gains access to a platform that is extremely popular with young people. Spotify and Barca will definitely work on joint initiatives. For example, providing playlists of Barca players, advertising Barca products in Spotify free versions, etc.

Can definitely be a partnership that turns out great for both sides.

Bro barcelona was as big as any team before Messi.

Many other GOATs played for us other than Messi.

Messi played with a bunch of GOATs in the team. He didnt win 3 CLs by himself smhh Who won the world cup and Euros by themselves without Messi

Milan was a big team. Where they at currently in therms of revenue? Battling it out with the likes of Tottenham.

Most superstars we had didn't spent much time here. Messi played here for 17 years and we dominated a legendary Real Madrid side with prime CR7 in their ranks.

Don't want to turn this into a 'Messi is a God and we would have been beggars without him' type of discussion, because clearly we would have somehow managed decently without him.

But what's so bad in acknowledging that we reached the pinnacle of sporting excellence and financial prosperity in his era?

Ferran Reverter resigns as CEO of FC Barcelona
Ferran Reverter has informed FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta today of his wish to renounce the position for personal and family reasons
https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/news/2474855/ferran-reverter-resigns-as-ceo-of-fc-barcelona

Now that's some bad news. Hard to find a replacement as good and competent as him. Worthless mentioning how key this position is in current financial situation.

Might be that he is stressed out as these first months must have been very demanding, but moment to resign pretty much at the same time as numbers of Spotify deal come to surface seems odd.

Crap, that is huge.

Seems like a guy who wants everything his way if he quits over this though. It's just 3 years.

Reports are that he is finding it hard to work with Laporta as not being given room to do his job and has been close to quitting a number of times.

They could be guessing though after the CVC deal almost happening then this.

Other board members quit before this and others left first time round for similar reasons.

Be interesting to know what his issue with Spotify deal is/was.

Some sources say it has nothing to do with the Spotify-deal. Might even be that Reverter was the one initiating contacts through his MediaMarktSaturn past and negotiated this deal before he resigned. Reason seems to be personal disagreements between Reverter and Laporta on personnel decisions. Same source says some people only got hired because of private contacts to board members and Reverter didn't like that nepotism.

Yeah the Spotify one seems strange as he would have quit before now if that was the huge issue would think.

Maybe it is the opposite and he decided to not leave before he had seen this deal through.

Personell at club been discussed in past and Laporta picking folk not qualified for positions due to his relationship with them. Think his sister is one. Last time round his porn start wife was given job at club as well I think.

Reverter quit as CEO over the Spotify deal... wonder what his issue is?

Joe Rogan.

The deal is more than good. People forget the Rakuten deal was signed during the height of club popularity and was arranged with Pique's involvement, and due to COVID didn't pay in full amount.

Spotify is a product that's immensely popular with hundreds of million users worldwide, not like Rakuten which services I doubt anyone has ever used here. Basically a button on your Samsung TV remote, that is of no use.

Some friends are already joking on cancelling their Spotify subscription because of the Barca association.

That makes more sense. Having thought more about it, I think it is more likely that he wanted to conclude the Spotify deal which would successfully close his personal chapter at the club before moving on, and now that the media are running the story that he is quiting because of the deal to shine Laporta in a better light.

Very annoying to see him quit, seems as a club we always make a bit of progress then take a step back. Typical.

Laporta's lackeys are here to paint him as this savior that can't do no wrong, rest assured.

Me?

The deal is better in every way than Rakuten + Beko. Bigger brand, considerably more money, shorter contract to give you leeway in future negotiations.

I didn't imagine we'd be getting around 100m for kit sponsorship and stadium (the current one) name rights. For a club that is not even playing in CL anymore.

Rakutun is far bigger brand than Spotify, the company is like 10 times bigger or so. Just not in Europe and that is why they wanted a sponsorship with Barca.
Same with Spotify, who is barley known in many areas outside Europe and North America, so a sponsorship with Barca makes sense
