A 3-year deal for 280m (93m a year) from Spotify is done, according to RAC1. It includes the men?s and women?s game jerseys and the training kits, plus title rights for Camp Nou.
So basically we are charging them only around 15m a year for the title rights, based on the calculation of current deals. Not great but I suppose we will make to live with it.
Also, if that means we are freeing up the sleeves, we should find a separate sponsor just for the sleeves. Would not be more than 10m since the training kits are gone, but we need the money.
Pretty good deal. It's considerably better than the previous one by Rakuten right?
Better than the previous deal from Rakuten (55m) however that deal only covered the men's teams (first team and the B team)' game jerseys.
Previously we were getting 55m (Rakuten) + 19m (Beko, left sleeve + training kits) + 3.5m (Stanley, women's game jerseys), for reference.
The women's team is marginal in terms of exposure though. And renaming Camp Nou for marketing should have been done before, lots of big teams do it for many years.
Also, I remember reading somewhere the Rakuten deal was poorly structured so that we ended up taking a lot less than those 55m.
Yeah, because of COVID, Rakuten is only paying us 30m this season (and I think last season too, but am not too sure), as a result we stripped them off of our B team's jerseys and some other places.
I think those of us who are not too thrilled about this deal are saying, yeah it is better than the previous deals combined but we are giving away the Camp Nou title rights for rather cheap. But it is just a three-year deal before the Nou Camp Nou is built, so we will live with it.
93m pretty close to the 100m I was reporting for the shirt & stadium rights.
Compared to what we had before we are basically getting 16m more for the stadium rights, but we still have the sleeves to sell, which could bring in an additional maybe 10-15m per season.
Sleeves alone won't get us that much.
Previously Socios.com was said to be a done deal for our sleeves, I wonder if it is true.
