Messi was a problem because the leaders we had were clowns. He played them like a violin. His greed and lack of morality were kind of well known. A cunt is a cunt, doesn't matter if his football skills are heavenly.

Had he tried this stuff with Florentino... he would have been sold. But most likely he would have signed a new deal under much better terms for the club.

Florentino would have payed him more and ... got more money because of him .. even more than barça did

You are talking to a club who got 220 millions cash from PSG and throw it out of the window..

We have to go through a couple seasons of pain to get back to the promise land.

It was gonna happen one way or the other, after what barto left us.

Doesn't help that la Liga is also actively trying to kill us off.

Barca will still make money long therm from being associated with Messi. Why do you think Laporta still runs his mouth about him every day?

And yeah, Florentino would have payed more and got more. But for serghei he is a cunt

Doesn't help that we got a lot of duds, while Madrid have been pretty good at transfers over the last years. And don't think they spent more than us.

Any money paid to Messi was totally worth it.

We're talking about Bartomeu and his other bad financial management. The consequences of his decision will last a long time.

We've been in pain since 4-5 years ! and what will change in 2 years ?

If we keep appointing clowns doesn't matter if we get some cash back or not it will be like Coutinho/Dembélé saga again.

So for the foreseeable future we are stuck with the bang average youngsters we have, that some people call "talents", and will buy a nobody/oldy here and there and call him tiger/shark/lion/cobra ...

Hopefully the Dembele, Griezmann, Braithwaite, Coutinho situation taught us a big lesson.

The solution is clear. Use that huge money and invest in La Masia, scouting and infrastructure. Rely on La Masia for player acquisition and only pay huge sums of money on players who would mostly guarantee you success.

No big club relies that much on their academy. You can have 1-2 players that really establish themselves, but bulk of players is always bought.

So while you are waiting for the "eggs to hatch", the other big clubs are already winning and have an advantage. That La Masia golden generation is a once in a lifetime occurrence.

Just a few days ago I read we have given up preferential option with clubs around Barcelona to save money.

It might not hurt us now but some of the younger age groups could be affected in the future.

Think we have a good core of the team with the likes Mats, Araujo, Cubarsi, Pedri, Gavi, Lamine (and possibly Fati). No idea what's going to happen to the likes of FDJ, Kounde and Cancelo.

There's some upcoming talents like Fort, Bernal, Vitor and Guiu in the wings as well and some good experience players like Christensen and Gundogan.

It's a matter of filling the depth of the squad with some La Masia players and with the financial situation that the club is facing, I'd rather go with the long term approach in mind. However, if there is a superstar who will improve the team and that the club is able to purchase, go for it.

Apart from Mats, we don't really know the level of those players. Too much inconsistency or bad performances. Something might change with another manager, but for most I'm afraid they're not at the required level.
