Maxwell is left footed, he wouldn't be nearly as good at RB as he is LB. I think the second half of the season, especially the last few months he proved he should be our starting LB. His defense was really good too, and his offense (when Pep allowed him to go up) was always world class.

Maxwell was good at RB when he played there though.

What the hell? Maxwell defended well at the end of the season? Did you see the match against Inter?
Indeed, all 3 Inter-goals at the San Siro came from Maxwell's side. Maxwell is great offensively, but defensively, he's very error-prone. I don't see how Maxwell should start over a fit Abidal.

You mean at Barca? Tbh, I can only recall a single time this season where he played RB, and from what I remember, he didn't perform too well there. I could be wrong though, don't remember anymore which game it was.

He only played there once, but we were all impressed, some quotes from the match chat:

"MAANNNNNNNNNNNN this guy is playing some sublime sh!t!"
"That play where he beat the defender and made the backheel pass to Messi... beautiful!!!"
"is he more defensively solid on the right?"
"He looked comfortable today and played very well. He played with the potential he's had from the begining. The only bad thing he did was get a yellow which shouldnt of been a yellow in the first place."
"Very nice display from Maxwell. It's good to know he do a good cover for both Dani and Abidal"
"I was sincerely delighted of seeing him playing such a wicked game. Messi should have SO scored from their interplay, which was just so sweet one could almost taste it."
"our best signing this summer"

etc.

Maxwell is a very versatile player and I think he's a fine backup LB/RB.

Sylvinho wasn't a good defender either (except for the CL final where he somehow reinvented himself as a golden god), and he's the best backup LB in Barca history.

Just b/c those goals started or came from the left side at some point didnt mean they were his fault. If I remember correctly, the first goal was entirely Dani Alves fault b/c he was WAY out of position. That's a very poor arguement.

No they weren't...If I remember correctly Alves was directly responsible for at least two of the three goals that we conceded that night.

a lot of people seem to rate luis highly.
i have never seen him play
but how come he was left out by dunga?
was he not good enough or another mistake by dunga?(pato)

"Being not good enough" is usually not a valid argument regarding Dunga or Maradona's decisions. I mean - Dunga thinks that Grafite is better than Pato & Maradona obviously don't rate Cambiasso and Zanetti as "good enough" for the WC, so ..

i guess txiki was trying to save cost on luis
