In a nutshell, the blame is on Tito for changing the pressing system, not on Messi.

Blame isn't the right word. Considering last season Pep lost the league by nine points and this season Tito has won the league by a record fifteen points. You'd have to say it's credit to Tito for changing the system to one that's more successful.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... or maaaybe it has something to do with Madrid needing several months to realize the season started, as opposed to last year, when they were destroying everyone they came across.

Except it's not more successful. The games agains rm, psg, milan 1st leg and bayern showed that in a painful and obvious way. Barca was the best team in the world while Pep was here. Even last season, losing the lliga and the cl, the team played a lot better. If by any chance rm hadn't imploded with mourinho this season, I don't know if the difference would be 15 points. And I think it had more to do with Messi's insane scoring form than with Tito's tactics.

+1

We were extremely unlucky to lose to Chelsea and not be in the CL final last season. Hell, we were even unlucky against Inter in 2010 (had Bojan's goal not been wrongly disallowed, we would have gone through), though not to the same extent. This time, Bayern completely dominated us and scored 7 goals. And let's not forget about how shitty we were in other big games (RM, Milan 1st leg, etc).

Barca was not the best team last year. That ended after the club world cup final. Just Barely getting past Madrid in the Copa quarterfinal was the last hurrah of that team. In fact that tie was the last time that season we beat a big team without Messi scoring. After February all the goals were his and everyone else stopped scoring so talking about Messi's scoring this year as if it wasnt the only thing that kept us competitive and made us even stay within 10 points of Madrid is misguided. Somehow people talk about 2012 as if it was 2010 to 2011. The lines become blurred somewhere and it has to stop.

Losing villa in the cwc was crucial for the not so good 2 half of that season. Even so, on the CL the team played well against Chelsea, losing many goals. Comparing that to the display against bayern and the gap is clear.

Agreed. The team suffered without Villa but still played very well vs Chelsea. If Alexis or Cesc had any sort of scoring form whatsoever back then, we would've been in the CL final.

Why compare one semi final to the other. Bayern this year is in a different stratosphere to Chelsea last year. The word Beasts doesn't even do Bayern justice. Not being able to score a 3rd goal against 10 men including Boswinga as a CB shouldn't happen when we had a mostly fit team. What Bayern did to our injured banged up squad is what we should have done to Chelsea, who even took off Drogba and Mata and brought on the likes of Kalou, but our players lost their ruthless streak after much years of success while Bayern had theirs this year after much disappointment.

And that's what we would have done with a bit more luck/slightly better finishing.

And btw, the injuries were Tito's fault for shit rotation and overplaying players like Xavi, Puyol, Messi, etc. I hate it when people use the "but he had an injured squad!" excuse.

I compared one semi to the other because the gap was huge. Barça failed to convert the chances against chelsea, but still managed to play better. Against bayern it was an abysmal display, the worst I've seen in a long time. Everything was lacking, including a coach that would react to what was going on and do something, on both games.

Yup, we dominated Chelsea and got unlucky. We must have hit the woodwork more times than Chelsea had shots on target
I definitely think we would have gone through had Villa not been injured (and Villa's injury, unlike the injuries we've had this season, was not the coach's fault). Hell, I think we would have scored at least 5 goals over the 2 legs.

If you take a look at the Bayern game... massive difference. We got completely dominated and conceded 7 goals. And created fuck all. Our tactics were shit. Our players looked unmotivated. We had a pretty heavily injured side due to Tito overplaying certain players (Xavi, Messi, Puyol, etc). Tito did fuck all in the first leg, he just stood there and watched us get hammered. Etc, etc, etc. I'd say Tito's the main reason we lost 7-0 to Bayern.

This is beyond ridiculous. Barca got 55 of the first 57 points. No team in the history of La Liga would've been able to compete with Barca this season.

Except it's not more successful.
Winning the league by 15 points is more successful than losing the league by 9 points is a failure. That is an undeniable fact.

It did that by playing better than last season. Maybe you should watch Barca's away games to the likes of Getafe and Espanyol again to see how this seasons Barca are superior to last season.

We've been absolute shit in big games this season. Much worse than last season (2nd leg against Milan aside). That's also undeniable. We haven't been better this season than last season.

As for winning the league with a 15 point advantage over RM, you can thank Messi for that. Not to mention that RM have been shit this season, especially compared to last season (yet we still managed to get hammered 3-1 by them ).

Then you should see Barça against rm, or on the cl this and last season. Even losing the game of 2012 at camp nou to rm, what rm did to barça this year was far, far worse. The way the team played against the big teams this season was laughable. Getafe and espanyol will never be the benchmarks for a team like Barça.
