I just posted that he has the most throughballs of any Barca or Real player in league this season... has second most progressive yds by passing and most progressive carries.

It would be almost impossible to do that if always waited for game to close up.

The difference in options for the two midfields tonight was night and day.

What your claiming is not based on the facts.. FDJ has had some unreal passes forward this season when it is on. More than anyone else in league and he has done them in CL also.
I’m talking about toplevel matches and not against Las Palmas. It’s true that this season he tries it more but in the real big matches you will see that he will deliver his natural habbit. In all matches against Real i can maybe think of 2 nice through balls, same against Atletico or big CL matches. His tempo always stays the same. The only time i saw him raising it was in his debut season against Espanyol where he recieved the red card so he has it in his locker but it’s just a instinct he needs to change

Surprised he's got any stick tonight. Is he supposed to somehow cover a suicidal high line implemented by Xavi. Then not give a penalty away for Araujo. Awful tactics yet again. One of his best traits of being able to burst forward is never going to be utilised whilst we have forwards with little movement. 0 chaos to thrive off and create situations that unbalance the opponent.

He had them v Girona who are top of league and was doing them last season also.

Regardless all those players are playing same teams for the comparison anyway so that point is mute.

Doing that while others like Real got much better options to hit.

He plays at a high tempo and did tonight. The facts bare that out but those passes were barely on tonight when comparing the two sides.

Against Real in 4-0 win in Bernabeu he was about most progressive mid.. last season home to Atletico he pinged one over top for Raphinha who fucked it up etc.

He's getting stick because apparently the only reason we lost against Madrid in the cup last season was because he wasn't playing.

If we had won today and he was decent, not spectacular but decent, his fans would be in here going crazy.

Did anyone claim the only reason we lost 4-0 at home to Real Madrid was because he wasn't playing? Doubt it.

We're considerably better off with him in the team, that's obvious. Doesn't mean we won't lose like this every now and then.

Nope the point was went from beating them twice in few weeks prior with him MOTM both times to him then being out injured and Barca losing 4-0 with Gavi and Kessie barely able to pass the ball in middle of park.

There was a clear drop from him missing in how playing then and struggling to beat Girona/Getafe and losing in awful fashion to Real. Then going back to beating Atletico as soon as back with him again playing very well.

If anyone claims he wasnt missed that game then keep at it.

Doesnt mean will never lose to them with him either or he can stop defence and Pena stopping how played today.

I said Real were favs for todays game.. with FDJ playing.

Barca were clearly far better last season when FDJ played.

Yep he plays well when the team plays well

This game last sea, the 2-1 at home.

The 1-0 we were lucky AF, we should have lost .

He isn't lifting the team and bringing us to any result we wouldn't have gotten without him, we outplayed Madrid this season without him which proves the point.

We have lost 1 game in the league the last 2 seasons without him.

He isn't a passenger he plays his part when we play well, but to make it out that he is the reason why we play well when we do, the facts simply do not match that narrative.

He isn't a talisman that lifts us up like so many truly WC player, never has been, maybe in the future he will be.

We play well he plays well.

We play poorly and we are looking for direction and leadership in midfield, don't look his way, thats just the truth, doesn't make him a bad player, just not the Best CM in the world ridiculousness.

Nah the team plays well when he plays well and vice versa as with every player really for most part.

Team must just decide not to play as well without him and better with him last season for some reason or other..

Barca were fairly shite when won 1-0 away to Real in cup for example but he was class and made huge difference and one of few that helped see out the game with team struggling and taking ball up park to releave pressure etc.

It sounds good to say 'Barca never lost in league last season without FDJ' but doesnt quite tell whole story.

FDJ did not start in 9 league games.. Barca won 6 of 9.. so 66% win rate..

Who did Barca play in those 9 games? The worst teams in league largely.. the best being Mallorca in 9th.

Lets compare that to games FDJ did start before league won... Realx2, Atleti x2, Sociedad x2 etc.. all the big games basically

What was the win % with FDJ starting in these games? It was 85%. With him MOTM multiple times v those top/European qualified teams so its more than just the stats.

So Barca had better win rate v best teams with FDJ than did v the worst ones without them.

Even that doesnt tell own story and doesnt give more credit for him being best one of if not best on park when beat Real to confirm league more or less.. no different than an Eche win without him.

The report says one or the other.

As said before Barca are political and dont make the best moves time and again and rate players toom highly if from La Masia/Spanish.

Barca are stuck in past in so many ways.. wouldnt be surprised if Xavi and those at club think Pedri/Gavi as a pair in CM is the future. That two as a pair will get bullied time and again.

They need a DM though and they need to sell to make that happen.

Maybe lost a bit of a market for shite like Lewa, Kounde and Raph that would have been there before selling best player but it could be best for FDJ also.

Everyone is fair game as far as I am concerned.

True, if they can't recover fast financially, start selling. There's no point in paying big money in salaries if you can't achieve big things. Cut your losses, and move on.

De Jong is in his prime. If you need another 3-4 years to get finances in check and make some big signings... sell him.
