I love Gavi, but does he have a pass over 10 metres in his bones?

Exactly.. his range of passing, forward passing etc are all terrible and fucking miles off likes of Pedri, Gundo and FDJ.

He passes majority of time to first player he sees open and has little pause or control to game at all.

Wins ball back a lot as chases anything that moves which is an attribute but he also leaves the most holes and exposes team the most by being beaten on the dribble.

He will come back and be exact same level and same folk will claim he is not the player was after injury.

I don't even entertain gavi vs de jong debates anymore, anyone who isn't a massive de jong fan, can no longer doubt gavi is simply more important to the teams success that de jong, who's just been doing the same shit for years now.

All that being said, because I'm a Barca fan first, I hope he finally puts in together, and not his usual 6-12 very good games per season.

Gavi was nowhere near as important as FDJ in league win season and Barca were 4thGavi played lastt game last season with him being abysmal in a good few of those games.

Gavi does not even have 6-12 top games.. he hasnt had barely 1 or 2 in last 2 seasons.

Far behind the other midfielders on the ball.. he gets on it less and does less with it by a long way.

Never won a European KO tie he started.. won all but one game he didnt start in the league win with win % above team average... were 4th when played last game in league etc.

Last two games he started in midfield vs Real at home one of them was worst home defeat to them in decades as he was abysmal etc.

Its quite embarrasing for Gavi what Fermin and Felix managed to do on the ball in those more advanced midfield areas last season really let alone Gundo.

Yet been far better than many of those made out to be top players in that time.

He has been very good in many systems and better than those in their best position that get overly praised.

What he should really do is charge about the field out of position barely getting on ball and barely passing it forward or with any range.

Make some tackles while getting skinned and gurn to the crowd.

Thats the way.

Last season Gavster.. an appauling 133 yds on average in league for passing forward... 21st in team and by far worst of the 'top 4 mids'.

FDJ 1st for midfielders incidentally.

Can keep these stats coming.

Gavster 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lets wait how he will perform under Flick guys

If i remember correctly he played very well until his injury last season 🤔

Think Flick's system is the best for him since he is here, De fire 🔥🔥

He needs to level up his gameplay in big games though, take more responsibility, Flick is the right man to teach him that 💯

Another stat...

'FDJ cant pass ball forwards'

Reality.. FDJ 1st in team for progressive passing yds 3rd in team for expected assists and 1st in team for passes into final third.

Gavi? Worst of the top 4 mids on all of the above and a scarcely believably bad 133 yds progressive yds.

Gavis stats are not helped by the fact that he struggles positionally to get on it a lot of the time.. we all know and love those occassional games he barely makes 20 passes with no range or quality.

So we should expect as he does less on the ball and gets on it less he makes less errors?

Mmmmm.. last season 1.6 unssuccesful touches a game for Gavi and disspossesed 0.9 times.

Terrible for the mid who gets on the ball the least, has least range and is the least progressive/creative of the others compared to.

FDJ in comparison despite getting on the ball a lot more.. 0.7 nssuccesful touches.. less than half of Gavi and 0.9 dispossesed.. the same.

The stats are fucking woeful for Gavi in comparison.. but never mind he charges about like a lunatic making tackles, fouls and getting skinned.

Let me hear 'its not his job' shouts as only way out.

There is no question that Frankie is the best all round midfielder in the world, top notch ball control, decent dribbling, nice body structure, inteligent, very potent in recovering the ball.
It's also true he in Barcelona is not the fighter from Ajax but more the passager like Busquets. Plenty of moments where he attacks too slow.
But our rotten club forced him to be the next Iniesta lol and to play with absolute trash like Alba, Roberto, Busquets.
I think he got complacent in a mediocre team where nobody goes to gym, nobody can run or defend and now all the reconstruction based on La Masia pushed him to the corner especially being done by the catalan fanatic Xavi.
FDJ lost most of his potential playing out of position and near absolute trash and is complacent. The fans as the maggots they were turned on him while Roberto, Alba, Pique, Busquets, the artisans of the collapse, were fucking rewarded not with a contract termination but with captain roles.

I think FDJ saw the clowning, chauvinism and said to himself let's enjoy the city and not worry too much, this guys are clowns from Xavi to Roberto.
After all he is the best midfielder even playing in the first gear, bar none.
Last example of clowning was when Gundogan and Lewandowski fucked up, the blame was shifted on FDJ by the fans using some distorted rational based on Gundogan's claims that others fucked up, not him.
I think he will go for free most likely if Barcelona doesn't win big. And I have my doubts we can win big.
The level of clowning is noticed into the talent market too, no real talent from Brazil headed our way since Neymar.
The clowning is in the forum too. We are in huge financial troubles but we still do the same shits and hype random average players. Then we try to offload them after 1 season like the absolute morrons we are.

That being said, selling him was a good option, less drama from the fans and more hype for La Masia. Barcelona is not about results or even good football, but the anime stories about "if" Xavi, Gavi, Ferran, Araujo, the Tiger, Lewanflopski, Depay, Grizman, Dumbele etc. We are a reality show

Every player needs a system to excel but FDJ was teams best players behind Messi in Messis last season.. playing 3/4 positions.

The season it was changed to double pivot he was clearly better than Gavi and Barcas best midfielder before Xavi changed it.

It is because he is a better DM than others that he gets played there.. even when not his best position.
this is the reason why I was hoping we would go for Merino. Merino being a Box-to-box player would have complimented FDJ immensely.
FDJ's defensive downfall would have been greatly negated by Merino being amazing defensively.
Man if only we were for Zubi. Would have been perfect.

Frenkie was only behind Gavi and Cancelo for defensive stats last season in the team. It is not his natural position but was not as bad as made out.

Good luck to anyone who thinks Gundo, Pedri or Gavi would be better in that defensive role and as it stands will have to be one of them.

FDJ is clearly the best box to box of that lot for all round game, athleticism, running etc. Even then it is more limited box to box role as in title win when a lot of his role was helping balance Balde/Gavi on that left hand side. It was at times if Balde has gone ..FDJ sit and cover.. if FDJ gone Balde would sit.
