The skeleton in the closet of the "trade master" Barto comes out once again. I'm pessimist Frenkie will back down from terms he put his signature in 2020.

Freezing him in the stands for 2 seasons is unheard of punishment. Likely to be sold next summer for half the market value, before we lose him on free.

Frenkie is on nowhere near 37m annual salary a season.

His contract was leaked by the club.. it is 14m a season salary and 15m in his last.. adjusted for deferred salary.

Even when add performance bonuses and loyalty bonuses... as never do with other players it doesnt come to 37m.

Konate is not a 'top player' or anywhere close. He would not get a game Barca first team and will be lucky if Quansah is not ahead of him.

Same was said when Salah contract was to be renewed... 'they wont give him big contract and break structure'.. they did.

They will offer TAA a fortune to stay and stop him joining his mate Bellingham at Real.

Lets not forget Liverpool have finished 3rd and 5th these past two seasons also and have both Salah/VVD on big contracts in their early 30s.

I think the 37M figure includes his amortization, so a total of his cap hit.

It is mixed intentionally tomake him look worse than it is.

The 37m comes from nonsense sites doesnt include amortised costs for others so would be bizarre just to add it for him.

Are they adding the amortised costs for Kounde/Raph/Ferran? Does it get quoted that Lewas salary is 44/45m this season?

No...none of that does get added.

Even then 37m gets quoted season after season when reality is he is on a lot less this season than last for example.

The number comes up on 'highest paid players' etc when folk do not have a clue and just repeat it... how many of those lists include amortised costs of players? None of them.

Those sites use leaks, and most of those leaks came from Barca media and they quote each others.
I don't think anyone should expect consistency from them.

Where has there been any leak he is on 37m a season?

The one leak that was in media had him at 14/15m and showed what they claimed was his contract.

The closest can get to 37m is when add his salary, deferred salary, deferred bonuses, loyalty bonuses and then amortisation on top.

No other players salary gets quoted with annual, bonuses and amortisation even if thats where they get a one of season cost of 37m.

37 million a season does seem an unbelievably high number. That surely isn't true. That's almost 800 grand a week. De Jong doesn't have that level of superstardom.

None knows any of those players real salaris.

But obviously de jong isn't on 37m, the question is, what portion of that 37m is deferred, because I'm sure he didn't take zero salary in that covid year, that would be both stupid for him and the club.

So if he deferred let's say 20% of his salary that covid year.

We add that to his current salary, which is around maybe 14-16m, that would have his salary alone being around 19-20m net.

Bonuses and transfer fee then gets us to around the number that is already thrown around, his cost on the "books" is around the 30m, what he offers on the field doesn't justify that high cost to the club.

The contract was leaked by the club... the media had hold of it.

His annual salary across his contract is 14m and 15m with him getting less at start and more at end.

Literally just repeating what was already discussed and only way possible could get anywhere near 37m and in way dont do for others.

Lets start saying Raph, Kounde and Ferran are on 20m odd and Lewa is on 44/45m....reality is will be more when add any bonsues.

Top stuff.

Barca will pay him his deferred salary one way or another so that money is not even worth factoring in.

Remove the deferred salary... remove the bonuses that dont add for others and his cost on books is far less than Lewa and not much more than Raph, Kounde, Ferran etc.

Europe really needs to move to an American model when it comes to salary disclosure, player salaries are disclosed when they sign their contracts.

None of this guess work, club leaks, insides info bs.

I guess for the club the only thing that matters is total salary, which is the only actual fact any club releases in Europe.

Everything else is guess work.
