I got a feeling we'll waste the summer chasing Neymars return, note: i said WASTE time because theres no chance of it before you PSG fans get your knickers in a twist. someone said it back a few pages in this thread and looking at our most recent transfer activity.. Murillo stop-gap loan with option to buy, Stuani stop-gap cheap option, Todibo very cheap yet promising CB and then the Rabiot transfer on a free, whilst there are good options in Frankie and De Ligt available we are seemingly not bothering with. Pogba is also a possibility.

Unless of course any of those teams had sent some scouts to watch him play over the last two seasons ....

Rakitic is highly rated by just about everyone except a few on this forum. If you don't think he would vastly improve United or PSG or Arsenal I think you just don't watch enough of other clubs.

Barca hasn't been the best "team". What separated us from being a midtable team was one player. His name is Messi. Take him out and I doubt we were going to win anything, not even CDR!

Look what happened to Real when CR7 left them, and his influence doesn't remotely come close to Messi's influence on Barca.

Let us not kid ourselves, without Messi there is no Barca's winning any trophies. We had/have some good players such as Suarez and Neymar, maybe with a good coach we could have won few trophies, but that wasn't the case, we had/have average/below average coaches. It was all on one man's shoulder, without him, and this team would have been similar to the team under Gaspart.

I don't disagree about Messi's imp[act but HE IS PART OF THE TEAM. Barca also did pretty great the fall he was injured and Neymar and Suarez played like the best two healthy players in the world and all but cemented La Liga in that run (and pasted Real) if I recall. Of course that age Suarez isn't on the team nor is Neymar. But Messi's wages would be gone at that point, and a lot of other high earners, so Barca of course has to look for the next young superstars, not like it isn't a top 3 world destination of a club by any standard.

Rabiot is a risk if he flops for us when he's earning more with us than Pogba, De Bruyne and Kane make. I cant see any EPL team wanting to make him the highest earner in the league.

Just repeating this doesn't make it true. Rabiot's wage would be less than Busi's and in line with Vidal's. Also comparable with Goretzska on a free to Bayern last year when you combine wages and bonus. Far less than Pogba (290), KDB (260) and Ozil (350) wages.

The question is why did the salaries of those players with the exceptions of Messi get so high in first place?
Busquets, Pique and Rakitic

When we won Cls in 2009 and 2011, the board believed that our players are Gods on Earth.
And the board did everything to keep those Gods.

Then, other team players started to ask higher wages, a domino effect.
And now, new players like Dembele, Coutinho, Rabiot are getting 13 and 10m.

New players are not fascinated by our history and results anymore.
But they are fascinated with our wage structure, which was ruined since we tried to keep a winning team from 2009.

everyone except you considers the 2009 and/or 2011 Barca teams to be in the top 5 club teams ever assembled.

This is the Rakitic thread ... check back a few pages and see if you can find ANYONE who rates or even wants him in the team ;)

I'd guess you are in the minority fan worshipping Rakitic to be honest .

Rakitic isn't that bad, he is been worn-out by Valverde and this is what pisses off most people here. EV turned him into becoming an uninspired performer with little impact on proceedings.

I don't dislike him as a person .. he was pretty useful for the first 6 months to a year but he should never be a guaranteed starter and fixture in a Barca midfield .. I just thought we were getting him as stop gap ..
