To be fair if I could get any midfielder it would be Tchouameni, lad looks an absolute beast and the athleticism the midfield needs

Rumor has it Liverpool is also seriously chasing after him? Good that he doesn't go to Madrid.

I hope he doesn’t go to Madrid but I think if they showed interest he’d jump at the chance. I did read about Liverpools interest too, that would also be bad news in my opinion.

It’s a shame Barca are never linked to these kind of transfers.

In our case it might simply be a cost thing too. Although we'd have be willing to move on from Busquets too which I hope we are, but I'm not sure.

The second part is pretty much the insurmountable issue at Barca have been unable to get past for 6 years. Not buying quality players as serious competition for the starting XI. Being linked to Liverpool and they've got two of the best midfielders in the game in Fabinho and Thiago. Yet still want to add quality and competition for places.

Depressing stuff

I mean we blew ungodly amounts of money on "starting quality players"

Same case with Real Madrid.

We've had the same issue for years as you said. We never want to, or intend to add proper competition. We seemingly want depth aka water carriers for our starters.

Yeah sadly we did take a few tough Ls there.

We've also had an obsession with either slow, unathletic players or players that have no fixed position for us.

It's really incredible how bad we've been at signing players.

tbf, Frenkie was bought as Busquets replacement, not Rakitic replacement.
Which says a lot about our recruitment under Abidal

The likes of Tchuoameni won't be going for Griezmann or Coutinho sums nor have his wages. Plus it's areas in the squad that desperately need revamping.

We signed starting quality players in Griezmann where we didn't even play him in his natural position, same with Coutinho. I mean we had a 40 goal Suarez and 50 goal Messi yet somehow the idiots thought an 120 mil Griezmann was needed.

There's signing quality and there's signing quality players in positions you actually need to.

I think we'll see more players similar to Tchuoameni coming through the next few years. Most obviously might not be better, one or two might be just as good.

Just hope in the meantime we don't spend 50m on Mikel Merino.

I'd carry de Jong on my back to Munich if it meant getting Kimmich.

He's never leaving, sadly.

Kimmich, not de Jong.
