Xavi and Mateu Alemany have green-lit the sale of Frenkie de Jong for around ?70m, and the signing of Carlos Soler for ?20m. The operation is very advanced.

Financially it makes sense to consider selling him. Not just because of the fee, but his salary is huge as well.
Not sure what to think of it, i loved seeing him play for Ajax and he had some nice games for us as well, but overall it was still underwhelming considering how expensive he was. Thought for a long time the only way he'll make it is playing DM or maybe even CB but since coaches don't seem to rate him there and with his CM performances not really improving it makes sense they may sacrifice him to strengthen other positions.
the question is if his replacement is better, Frenkie is a player who won't dominate the midfield when his team mates underperform but he plays top when the team plays well.
70mio isnt enough...wouldn't sell him for under 90.
