Rakitic signed for us in his prime with a well functional team that just clicked. Not exactly the same situation as Frenkie is in right now, and people seemed to have forgotten the disastrous games Rakitic had his final two seasons for us. Look at that first goal for Liverpool at Anfield. People blame Alba but Rakitic was the bigger culprit....Although Frenkie do need to play better and consistently himself still.

With that being said, if they sell Frenkie and sign Soler it would be a big downgrade. Soler isn't even a CM. He's one of those weird wide midfielder/winger hybrids. It's a signing that would make no sense for us.

True. Not sure why we care about Busi, Roberto, Pique, Alba and Stegen so much. We threw out much better players and way easier! Iniesta, Xavi, Messi and Suarez. Way better players but at least they left on time.. Busis been done for years now.

That mean his amortization at that time was 64,and spreaded over another 6 years. 10.666667 per year
2 of them have passed, so that is 42.666667 remains
38M profit if we get 80M for him
But those 38M will be added to his annual salary too, so let's say it is 20M gross. That is 58M
Key here that this can be spent on amortised transfer.
So you get Soler for 20M and 5 year contract, on 10M gross salary that means he cost us 14M out of 58
You get another player like Tchoumeni for example, he is worth 60M and 15M gross salary; that is 27M out of FDJ saved 58, you get someone like Bremer for 35M and 10M gross salary, that is 17M per year.
So those 80M and his let's say 20M salary could on paper fund 115M signings with 25M salary

I can understand why the club would be keen to sell him, and for what he provides there are quite a few midfielders out there who could do the same. But replacing him with Soler isn’t it.

Gavi, Pedri, Kessie and Soler would look decent as CM options and if the club doesn't see Frenkie as one I have no problem with us selling him.
