He will have a rough time if he stays. Kessie/Gavi are just superior fits as #8's and I personally still prefer Busquets as our pivot (and Xavi apparently as well).
He has a real opening though as soon as Busi leaves next year, pretty difficult spot to find yourself in. And again, as long as we are financially okay and can register our signings we have no stakes in this transfer. We are fine with whatever happens.

Him leaving will allow us to bring our net spend down to around $100m which is very reasonable all things considered even with Kounde 60m, raphinha 67, lewa 50, that's 177 total minus his 85,brings us in at around 97.

Don't get me wrong he is a good player, but can't offer anything more than a 20M player can do.
