Agreed. They overestimated themselves in terms of global appeal. It is not built on some incredibly strong pillars. All it took was for Sir Alex to go, and they crumbled to an Arsenal level crazy fast. Almost a record how fast they went down.
Smelled trouble for me when Ronaldo basically went for a crap Madrid, desperate to join them while United were going through probably their best era that I've seen, and Madrid was basically Barca's fuck buddy. Should have been a reality check.
Ronaldo put them in their place, ice cold. And they loved him without even realizing it.
I hate Liverpool as much as United. But Liverpool to me always seemed a bit more special than the other British clubs. Which is why them winning 1 league in 30 years is funny as hell.
