The news from pretty reputable sources is that the club and Xavi have differing opinions about which "DM" to sign. Club wants Ruben Neves while Xavi wants Zubimendi as he see him as similar to Busquets.

A 4-3-3 is also fine. It's not really about the formation, but the roles the players have. I'm not convinced a sole pivot is the way forward in 2022 and onwards, unless you obviously have a beast of a CDM which we don't and isn't available on the market.

Even Pep sometimes drops Gundogan back really deep to work in a tandem with Rodri and in other games alters it altogether.
