Gerard Deulofeu

Really? Isn't Deulofeu supposed to be a future Ballon d'or contender/the next Messi/whatever?

there is no "next messi" but yes Deulofeu is touted as a future phenomenon and being top scorer of the segunda at 18/19 is a pretty good sign that he will be. Tello doesn't even slightly match him in terms of potential.

Tello has speed and he can shoot but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of times, he's pretty stupid. Cuenca is by FAR the smarter player but not nearly as good of a goalscorer. Also his time away on loan could possibly push him out of the team so I'd say Tello is the more likely one to stay.

I still prefer Cuenca with ease though

Interesting. I was always under the impression that in the eyes of the staff/fans it's Cuenca > Tello. And obviously either/both of them > Deulofeu.

Either way, regardless of who's staying or leaving or coming, that's way too many right-footed players who are best utilized on the left and are pretty useless on the right.

Cuenca doesnt score goals so unless he becomes a midfielder there is nothing he can add that we already dont have by sticking goal shy alves or alexis or pedro out there. Why would you think the two of them were more highly thought of by the staff? Deulofeu plays both wings equally well.

If I had to choose, though, I'd prefer it if Tello was in the squad next season and Deulofeu was not promoted. I'd also prefer Cuenca coming back over promoting Deulofeu.

Why was he there in the first place, though? I'm just going by what I've seen so far. Pep put Cuenca there, not me. If Cuenca is good, but not a scorer, he might as well play on the right. We have no attacking threats there, either way. I'd still prefer it if we had a genuine left-footed scorer on the right, though. Hypothetically.

Deulofeu plays both wings equally well.

What makes you say that? Unless he's genuinely ambidextrous, which he is not, and can shoot equally well with both feet, which I believe he can't, then he isn't equally efficient on both wings. Villa and Pedro are the closest we have to ambidextrous scoring wingers. Except Pedro doesn't score anymore. Either way, we have no real goal threat on the right wing.

Cuenca is a pure winger, something which we haven't had since Giuly. He is a very good player and a useful option but Iif I was to choose one player to sell/loan out of him, Tello and Delefou it would be him. If we played Tello on the right he could do the job as a winger better than Cuenca could do the job on the left cutting in and trying to score goals. Tello is more versatile in this sense and is the greater talent. He still has some way to go in terms of decision making but he is progressing at a considerable rate in that department. I would happily have all three in the squad next season but this would mean that one of them would probably get little playing time.

To be honest, it all isn't thát impressive. Nice and all, but defending and goalkeeping there is abysmal. He is just a piece of raw meat for La Liga defenders... Should train with first team next year and maybe make some minutes in cup matches, but he should still play his matches in Segunda.

Couldn't have said it any better. I don't get what all the Hype is about?. . . . He is still not as good as Messi or Bojan when they made their first team debut.

Couldnt have said it any worse. When you score 18 goals in the Segunda and dont even make it into the top ten list of shots taken in the league its not hype, just a good player. The defending in the Primera is not great or mythical. Ruben Castro scored 22 goals in the second division then scored 16 goals in la liga last year and 13 this year. Iago Aspas, Michu, Óscar, Piti are all players that didnt find it much harder in the Primera. For God's sake Riki is in double figures this year. Manucho and Jorge Molina have 8 and 9 goals.

Yeah, me too. Deulofeu could be only called up from the B team for the weaker teams. But there was some rumours that Deulofeu wants to be promoted and it has to be included in the renewal contract.

Cuenca will be back and will demonstrate how useful he is to this team so long as the injury is completely in the past...There's a lot to like in Cuenca and is a more versatile player than Deulofeu...The problem with Deulofeu, I wager, is that his renewal is surely tied to some assurances about first team involvement...He's tearing up the Segunda and is showing his quality with the youth NT setup but the truth is, he has yet to have a breakout appearance for the 1st team...I imagine he will get those chances again this summer

Cuenca has been injured most of his time at Ajax. Deulofeu have had a great season in the Segunda. Therefore I think the only reasonable thing to do is to loan Cuenca out again until he proves himself. Deulofeu has proven himself in the Segunda. There is nothing more for him to learn there. He should be promoted.

I don't think we care more about gerard's future more than tito probably does, I'm sure he already has plans for him, We'll just have to wait and see what they are.

I think it's too soon to promote him. Another season with Barça B, but training more and having more chances with the 1st team is the better option. So he can play more games, and is not on the bench for most of the season.
