Gerard Deulofeu

So who would you have dropped in order to facilitate deulofeu in the starting eleven at the time? Sorry, disagree strongly. A player in his position, not ready for the first team should be loaned and given the chance to perform.

In the first place, every promising cantera player, nevermind the most promising, has been given at least a brief opportunity with the 1st team - that never happened with Deulofeu...Even if the story ended there, it's incomprehensible how that could be the case...Excelled to the point where he was the standout Segunda player made it only logical that he would be given an opportunity with the 1st team...Yet that never occurred

With the impending FIFA ban, a ban the club was aware for a year before it came down as well as Pedro's discontent, attacking wide depth was going to be an issue...When Alexis was sold and Suarez brought in, the void at the wide position was never addressed - even with Munir & Sandro...Depth is vital at a big club

The failure at Sevilla cannot be seen as simply a reflection of the player when you factor in two issues - one, that Emery has a reputation that preceded him and two, loans with Barcelona players proved to be useless unless a buyback was included...Hence why future loans with players frequently contain just such a buyback clause so as to ensure the loaning club plays the player...Everton, he was a success

So the only area where we hear, mind you, no evidence of course is that the player lacked the defensive responsibilites or had some attitude problem...Yet, this issue never seemed to prevent him from being a key player for the NT as well as wearing the Captain's armband...Strange for such an unformed player who is apparently also a lazy malcontent to be a key player...None of it is logical

So now we're left with a situation where attacking width is a big issue in terms of depth, particularly because Leo is injured but irrespective of Messi being in the squad the club will be looking for just such a wide player in the winter window...It's illogical

Fair enough, some very valid points but I'm sorry, at a club like Barcelona, most games are pressurised with high stakes and demand to win is high. We also have some of the best players in the world all under one roof. It's illogical to expect that every young prospect should be tried and tested and given the appropriate time in the first team to give us a clear picture of whether they will pass and fail. Some, such as the likes of Messi and Iniesta, are so talented that they command a place but even players like pique had to prove themselves elsewhere to earn a place in our first eleven. You simply cannot keep tinkering and affording chances to all youth products, the constant demand to win and play the best players is always there. Deulofeu is a talent but there was nothing to suggest he will be a first team regular at our club and despite time at Everton, still that question mark remains. Maybe in a utopia, there would be constant chances to afford places and keep every player happy but that is simply not realistic. We will see many la Masia youngsters go on loan in order to prove themselves and that trend will continue.

Why do you think Enrique shipped him off for? Deulo must have done something during the pre-season in 14-15, and that really made Enrique mad. We don't know what it was because they won't say anything, but something clearly happened. That's why it's pointless to blame even the board about this specific case. They brought him back, presented him with Rafinha... He was supposed to stay back then.

Even if one concludes that Deu made it in epl (which he is yet to prove really) that doesn't mean he'd fit in here.
Playing in Spain requires tactical and technical skills that are largely missing in England.

Even Song looked great in epl.

He played a part in the goal ( a cross as usual ) ,his defense is improving .offensively his teammates ignored him and generally it is either give the ball to Barkley or long ball for Lukaku
But he really didn't show anything when he had the ball ,most of his dribbles failed .most of passes was awful

Not his best game by any stretch of the imagination and that is why he was never ready for Barca.

I think the occasion got to him but he will learn from it and make him a better player.

He's currently not good enough to start even at Everton tbh.

With Mirallas and Lennon we have a lot of competition in that position so you may be right however he does have a tendency of either making a goal or get an assist. I really hope he sorts out the wasteful side of his game soon.

After the Utd and Arsenal games where I don't expect him to get many minutes we have a run of easier fixtures and hopefully that will be an opportunity for him to get some consistency.

Halilovic is much better in my opinion. Deulofeu always stroke me as a limited player. Never understood the fascination some had with him to be honest. OK, he is fast and he can cross and I heard he can do Ronaldo almost as well as Ronaldo himself. What else?

He seemed a much better player with the B team. Compared to the Segunda attackers that year, he and Jese were on an entirely different level.

Jese is also very limited like Deulofeu and many Madrid fans are annoyed at his decisions, both now seem to have been so overhyped.
