Doesn't sound like you watch your team very much otherwise you'd realize that Roberto routinely played with 2 wingers

You must of saw the game the other week where Mirallas was sent off. That was the first time he has played two wingers since the start of the season. He normally either plays Kone or Cleverly on the left. Anyway enough of Everton.

Here's a treat for Deulofeu fans.

He's starting today. Odd.

I was under the impression it was impossible for him to get any minutes at all if Lennon was playing.

Man, what the fuck is going on with Geri. I highly doubt that Martinez is hiding him to keep him from Barca, there didn't seem to be any buzz about Barca buying him back all year even when he was at his best, and that's before you look at the pressure Martinez himself is under. Is it really down to just not playing 2 wingers? I can't make sense of any of it, but it brings me down to see him wasted, whatever club he's at.

We should of got Nolito, but we tried in summer and knew what the requirements money-wise would be. We knew Pedro was leaving too. Call Gerry a square-peg in a round hole all you like, but surely he'd of been worth a punt at keeping for this season, even if only this season, given we had a transfer ban. It's not like teams wouldn't of wanted him at the end of this season, or that he wouldn't of been young enough to develop.

I know things panned out way better than expected with Messi's injury in regards to how the league went, Real sacking their manager being a big part of it too, and we couldn't of known Messi was gonna be injured either, but you can't tell me 'we didn't know we'd run out of legs at the end of the season' and there wasn't an alternative. Again, this is in the midst of a transfer ban, beggars can't be choosers.

No Martinez has started to play 2 wingers. Deulofeu is now just behind both of them purely on performance. I'm hoping he starts the FA Cup Semi final but I don't think he will. He has a great through ball but he is very lacking defensively and can turn over possession needlessly especially when he's lacking confidence. He's a long way of Barca's standard at present but then again the whole Everton team are probably as poor as anyone in the league so there are mitigating circumstances. What started of as players taking it easy in the league after the Chelsea cup win has turned into a full blown shambles of a crisis.

But isn't his poor performances a result of being dropped suddenly? Because up to January, you couldn't say his performances were bad. You could say he was tiring a bit but certainly not enough to freeze him out for months on end, and I agree with you that it isn't to do with Barca maybe wanting him back when there's been hardly anything to suggest that.

Can't make heads or tails of it.

I agree. At the time he was tiring or had simply become a bit less effective and Lennon was rightly given a chance. I don't think Martinez ever intended to freeze him out. He was first sub in most games ahead of Mirallas. I just think Lennon took his chance with both hands and his performances demanded his selection. Unfortunately it seems to have hit Deulofeu's confidence a lot and he's very much a confidence player at the best of times. He will probably play a few games until the end of the season because after the semi final today we don't have a lot to play for and I suspect Martinez or whoever is in charge will take the chance to give some players a few games. This season was always going to be a learning experience for him and all in all he should look at the positives. For a few months he was on fire - he just needs to add consistency and get his fitness sorted.

Will be interesting to see how he will be used under Koeman.

One complaint last season was his stamina. He seemed to not be able last 90 mins. By all accounts Koeman will sort that out. I think Koeman will be a good manager for Gerry. Martinez was too soft and Gerry has matured since his time at Sevilla. I'm really hoping it will be a big season for him because last season at times he was almost unplayable. We just need him to add some consistency.
