With the amount of pressure he was under and the risks he had to take and the number of attacks he had to repel of course there would be instances where he falls a fraction short. Barca would probably have been 3 or 4 goals down at half time if not for him. He also tried to help the stalling Barca attack, his surges forward made progress. If he left space behind then other players(notably Busquets) should cover for him.

If he had done his job in being a defensive leader, talking some confidence and motivation into Batra, just as Puyol did for him. He wouldn't have to treat him like a kid, and always try to cover for him.

Seriously is playing him offside the right thing to do in such a tight situation, and in such a match. . . Knowing that referees nowadays have some sort of mental impediments when they officiate a game involving Barcelona? Shouldn't he be trying to avoid any more goals?

I would wait to see him being partnered with a world class center back who can compliment him.

He was bad... Not as bad as he was before but bad nonetheless... However, in all those .gifs the one with the first goal is clear as day Piqué was in no man's land, the rest can be debatable...

When you have a defense of Piqué, Bartra, Alba (as Alves doesn't really count as a defender), who do you think has the responsibility to lead and organize the defense? And while he can't be held accountable for the individual mistakes of others, he should be criticized for his lack of leadership and awareness...

In fairness, he did not have one remotely reliable defender to work with back there. Lead Alves, Alba and Barta to look defensively sound against that side? Can't imagine Puyol would have done it either.

That one was not a bad defensive play..Pique had Martinez well covered and Gomez was offside...Alves & Sanchez both on Mueller that play (not exactly a monstrous player, mind) and did fuckall to interfere with his play.

As far as I know, they were never confirmed nor denied... However, there's some evidence that indicates that Piqué was in the crosshairs along with Dani, who this very week admitted that the club wanted him out but then reconsidered...
