Gerardo "Tata" Martino

You say it like he had a plethora of options to choose from it was either Cesc or Alexis and the guy picked the one that worked in the past. (we went with the Alexis option in the League and Supercup and that didn't work out either) He barely had players to put on the bench and the goal conceded by Pinto should and could have been stopped by Valdes who like in most matches in this shitty season was out injured. Plus weren't we one of the best defenses in Europe keeping in mind that we have only 1 starter CB and little to no height in our team Tata gave us defensive stability for the most part something that Pep took away from Bayern

YEP!

If we had better, taller defenders we wouldn't have conceded so many goals from set pieces and aeriel deliveries. Also the players are to used to a high line. When we defend deeper we are harder to break down.

If you seriously believe that I can't bring myself to argue with you anymore

If he lied about that to cover for the board, it's even worse. He's really an "yes" man, with no authority, and won't be much different in a second season.

Tata also chose to count on Puyol, instead of getting a cb zubi could get(even if it was luiz).

I don't think Tata had much choice, I think conversation went like this: Zubi - "So we just spent 100M on Neymar, we have like 5M for new mediocre CB or you can play Puyol". I don't think that they would have bought CB for 30-35M even if Tata was begging for it.

What was he supposed to say? These bastard are not letting me buy a defender so I have to place my faith on Puyol who I know will never be fit to play 2 weeks in a row. You realize how crazy that would sound?

The problem is the board don't have a single original thought. If the press and fans call for Tata's head they will deliver it on a platter.

They have no plan. They will buy players but they will be the wrong players. They will get a new coach who will again be all wrong.

Lucho didn't like the pressure at all at Roma and at Barca that pressure will turn up a few notches.

Weren't we trying to buy Luiz? That shows that we had enough money.

This is true. Also if Tata stays and they do sign players they wont be the players he wants. Tata-"I want Benatia". Zubi-"Sure but Luiz is Brazilian and a much more erratic defender. Plus he will sell more shirts. Luiz it is!" Tata *groans*

It's not what he was supposed to say, but do. If he was brought so he wouldn't complain or ask for a cb to be signed, he's not the man for the job. And he is showing he's not. There were always players injured or suspended in important matches(cl final 09 is a great example). Barça is playing without a clear system, too many crosses, it's pure chaos. He couldn't give the team an identity.

Cmon you cant whine about Tata not signing anybody. He came from whole different continent. And it's good he didn't trust the board about getting Luiz or Agger. We needed CB 3 seasons ago! Now he had 1 year to use Barcelona scouts and check Youtube highlights. Instead of getting manlet Luiz maybe Tatas idea about CB is 3 feet monster. Now he can sign said monster.

It's just a rumor, Zubi said that they tried to sign Marquinhos, but they couldn't compete with PSG.

Yeah if we go on the supposed players we tried to sign we would have 7 players bought in one transfer window and enough defenders to make 2 lines of just CBs

Tata is not a big name that can just walk in and demand that things are done his way. Pep had leverage because he was a legend as a player and Laporta was more of a football man diito the board. Tata was unknown in Europe. He walks straight into a HUGE club with huge expectations. Its not as if he was going to rock the boat and take no prisoners. Go try that in your new job ANYWHERE and watch how your ass gets fired ASAP.

You do remember that Tata was appointed just a few of weeks before the transfer window closed and also in the winter window no club lets go of its star players and most are cup-tied anyways

But they only admitted that they tried to sign T.Silva and Marquinhos I never heard that Zubi or anyone else saying that they try to sign Luiz.
