Why is he struggling so much with the LL teams? Is it just lack of motivation from himself too? Seems like he hasn't really found the tactical and motivational stride for the LL yet.

During the Messi/CR7 era, la liga clubs learned the hard way how to slow the game down, being defensively astute, using every trick in the book for that. La liga for years had the lowest actual minutes played in top 5 leagues.

Real actually learned that trick too when they played Barca, and it is one of the main reasons they do so well in Europe, they know every trick in the book and how to deal with them.

EPL, Bundesliga aren't like that tbh. There is a reason a coach like Pochettino didn't last long in Chelsea a club historically know for their defensive football.
EPL is all about money, and in entertainment industry money comes if you are entertained more. You can't have this many teams playing that slower pace games and killing plays with time wasting and stupid fouls. You need to keep fans engaged. The same is for Bundesliga although it feels more culture thing.
In CL we are playing against top clubs with pride, in Liga we are playing clubs who are masters of slowing things down, and that's antithesis of Flick's ball.

Ultimately, knockout games might become the same way as Liga games.

Depends on how you look at it, we either need to adjust to the league with our style, or make necessary adjustments in the team to make Flick's ball work.

Sarri changed the world when he was at Chelsea

On the other hand Mourinho was a star in the EPL and played the most turgid calculative football and disruptive football ever.

Pooch fell at Chelsea mostly because of the short termism of the regime. At Spurs he was both entertaining and by their meek standards- successive.

Poch left Spurs in 2019, Mourinho left Manu in 2018. EPL had the resources to move on from those tactics in few years.

Poch was decent last year btw, what I wrote wasn't criticism to him , but that it will be tough for a more defensive/ conservative coach to work and stay in a big EPL club unless they are desperate. And generally the league as a whole weights in to keep things entertaining, something La Liga should learn.

Arteta now is channelling his inner Simeone, but Arsenal fans will take it if it means they can finally win the league (spoiler, they won't)

I think it's about results more than tactics.

But I do agree that perhaps, on an officiating level that the league is built to cut down play acting and time wasting- which is a good thing.

But then you see the success of the Spanish manager over there and maybe that doesn't even make a key difference.

Team is training in Dortmund this morning. Good to have everything done without interruption: match -> sleep -> recovery session and then travel back to BCN to get rest of day off.

This something new or happened all CL season?

Hansi just loves big matches.

The bigger the match the bigger the Hansi becomes.

The German coach admitted that winning in the Signal Iduna Park had not been easy. "It's really special to win here. We knew there was a lot at stake for both teams, but from the start you could see that we went out there with a great attitude," explained the Barça boss. Flick also had praise for the great atmosphere in the stadium in Dortmund for the visit of the blaugranes as well as thanking Barça's visiting support.

Flick also had plenty to say about match winner Ferran Torres who scored twice in the second half to propel Barça to victory: "I am really happy for him because he always has a great attitude, like Fermín López. He's always positive, even when he is injured."

Defense is still shit.
This. We again talking about how great we are based on the result. Dormund scores that last header and people would be up in arms in here.

Team is in a Jekyll and Hyde phase. Players seem to be losing form(compared to start of season), the ones returning from injury failed to make an impact, tactics are all over the place at times.

It is hilarious to not rate La Liga at least as no2 league slightly behind EPL.

I believe this season Spanish teams will go far. And as much as we hate it, Madrid has been most successful team of the last 4 seasons in CL.

League been top 2 for decades. Be it Barca and Madrid dominating. Mid 00s to mid 10s Barca, mid 10s to mid 20s Madrid.

I mean the big Spanish teams won since the turn of the millenium 12 CLs. Madrid has 8, Barca 4. Then you have Liverpool with 2, Chelsea with 2, United with 1, and City with 1. Half, 6 titles. We're talking about quarter of a century.

LL is far worse tactically than EPL, Serie A, and probably even Bundesliga by now

Technically, if you mean the technical skill of the players, it's distributed everywhere nowadays because technical players can be bought

Spanish teams winning in Europe against English teams has nothing to do with it.
Besides a shitone of that stat is the Real Madrid - Liverpool fixture of the Klopp era
I take a contrasting view, I actually think LL teams are very strong tactically, they're very resourceful and teams are generally well set up and structured. Khaled makes a good analysis of that above.

I think LL teams lack talent which is what holds the league back from being the best. But I think La Liga is for sure the 2nd best league in the world.
