It is vital to be prepared to work to exhaustion. 5 1-0 wins in a row by the slimmest of margins are worth much more than four 4-0 wins and a loss due to complacency and fuck-ups leading to Christmas gifts to opposition. That's the recipe for us. One game at a time with the same intensity and motivation.

Its no rocket science that 5 wins beat 4... every coach plays in way they think is best to win regardless.

There is zero chance Flick goes out to aim for 1-0s though or plays conservatively in way that it is more likely.

As he shouldnt. He needs to play in way he thinks gives Barca the best chance.

Honestly if he plays like 1-0s are the aim it will be hard watch.. some of those games last season were not great.

If Barca dont win at least one game v Real cant see getting anywhere close to title.

Those are the games that will matter the most as all should be beating the best teams regularly.

Last title win Barca were better than Real vs the top teams.

A draw is achievable for sure, maybe even two draws, or a win each. Madrid lost 5/6 points vs Atletico last season, we won 6.

Last title Barca were better than Real v the big teams and that is the biggest factor as really they are all a lot better than majority of sides.

If losing to the smaller sides more it just means not good enough to even compete before the big games even become important.

That's true. In a league, concentration and motivation are vital team attributes. You don't have them, you are not good enough to compete for the title.

Lose twice to Real and that is a 12 point swing in their favour at its worst.

Barca could be better against the rest of teams and still lose the league by double digits.

Every game is important but wouldnt expect Barca to be 12 points worse off v the other teams for example.

Even just for momentum and putting doubt in their heads beating them can impact it.

Real are also starting with every first team player available.. Barca may start without 6 of them v Valencia..

So not easy.

It depends, each season is different. Barca lost h2h to Madrid in 2022-23 and still won the title by a mile. City won the title last season in EPL and won only 3 out of 12 points vs Arsenal and Liverpool.

What do you mean 12 point swing? It's 6 points. You lose both games and Madrid wins both games it's a 6 point difference.

Barca scoring one goal less is not relevant to losing head to head. They both had one win and Barca won late on once in better form.

EPL is different ball game and quality there compared to La Liga and teams should be beating.

12 point swing in those games Barca v Real if one wins both or the other does. That is what can be at stake in those games.

Nah, check your math on that again. If Barca wins 36 games, loses the 2 vs Madrid and Madrid wins all 38 games, they end up with 6 more points than Barca.

If Barca wins 36 games, loses the 2 vs Madrid, and Madrid loses 2 games more vs rest of the field and 1 draw, so 35 wins 1 draw and 2 losses, Barca win the league by 2 pts.

In 2022-23, even if Barcelona lose the close match on Camp Nou vs Madrid they are dead on favorites for the title still by a big margin thanks to being absolutely ruthless in the other games, and Madrid not being able to match them on consistency.

It's no secret, in a league it counts a lot to do the work vs smaller teams every week. Sometimes, it is hard to treat every game in a very serious manner, and complacency sets in. That can be dangerous in league campaigns.

Hansi is going to end up getting blamed for a bad season just because Barca like always is hampered by injuries and old washed up players.

Araujo is out half the season basically. There goes the best high line recovery player. Counter goals will be coming for us soon.

Frenkie is our better CDM and he is out for who knows how long. With a tough start Barca could drop early precious points without him.

Gavi is out for the early part of the season and who knows how long it will take to catch up to speed.

Lewa and Trash Can will probably doom us at some point as well

No the math is sound.. there can be a 12 point swing dependent on how those games go when you are comparing Barca to Real.

Injuries always happened for us and only a big issue in the last years because of squad deficiencies. Last season, the season before in CL and EL, and so on. It's a problem, but it is not something new that is unique to Flick.

The 12 point reference is hypothetically assuming that Barca could win both games

It isnt but they are injuries that he has had absolutely no input to really and all of them out at start of season v fully fit Real is unusual.
