As you said, just unlucky. There's nothing you can do about a knee ligament. Even if you're in top-form you can get injured, just bad luck for Ibi

It says he was running to keep the ball within the lines.. stepped on a pin that is used for certain exercises and on that moment he made a turning motion in which he twisted his knee.

I was thinking.. is this guy becoming the new Robben.. but no this is a real unfortunate accident.
