It's a good opportunity to set an example. Both to other players but also to other clubs thinking they can poach our players for peanuts.

lol. like the poaching didn't happen in the past. there is no opportunity here. it's just us being stubborn to not achieve much in the end. players will do what they think its best for them.

Clubs will be willing to wait a year. A year without Ilaix playing means they can also offer him less of a wage.

He is an opportunity but not a huge opportunity.

Poaching in the sense that others can lowball Barca and get players for cheap just because we have no spine.

Clubs will sign him because he is young and has potential, but I doubt his negotiating position will be nearly as great as his agent thinks it is after having not played for a whole season. Let alone what it means for his development as a footballer. Imagine, god forbid, he gets injured severely in training.

we lose either way. so take the 5 mil and get it over with.

That would be the dumbest move ever. Consequences would be terrible in the long run. It would basically give the green light to every kid that's greedy and stubborn enough to follow his example. It's much better to bench him during the next 12 months than to bend for 5 mil. That money won't help us but setting the example could.

what's the whole debate about really? money, right?

the guy wants more money and we can't/wont offer it. why make such a big deal when it happens all the time? get 5 mil and stop with the macho bullshit as we won't benefit long run or short run.

also, do we want to go to court for not letting him train? fine, we lose either way.

It's not about money, it's about power.

Illaix had his mind fucked up by his agent into thinking he is Mbape or so, and has the power to get the wage he wants or blackmail the club.
Hence, he needs a very good lesson not only to set a precedent, but to set the balance of power where it should be.
Laporta is making the right call here.

Leti him rot at the stands, train with juvenil A or lower, and let's see how happy he is with his life 6 months later
