Isaac Cuenca

I still think we shouldn't start him, simply because we need a little more goalscoring up front, especially when Iniesta plays on the wing. He'd be a great player to add depth though.

Well if we start Alexis or Villa on the left, the goalscoring problem wouldn't exist and Cuenca could slot in with ease. Besides, what Cuenca does still actually leads up to a goal, the only difference is that he isn't the one usually scoring it but he provides it instead. I don't see a problem as long as the goals are being scored and he is playing a part in that, whether it be scoring or assisting.

I'd rather have Iniesta on LW and Pedro on RW (he wasn't good last week, but he's been good overall recently). Villa/Pedro (maybe even Sanchez, if he continues like this) on LW and Cuenca on RW could work though.

I definitely don't want Iniesta on LW and Cuenca on RW though. That would put too much reliance on Messi to score goals.

Ws Cuenca: "We couldn't win, but what an atmosphere at the Amsterdam Arena! I hope to be able to help the team in the next games .

Iniesta won't play on the wing in the future if our coaches are any smart.

That's the thing, I'm not sure how smart our coaches actually are! The number of times Mascherano has played CB and Villa been left out suggests they're not as bright as Pep was.

In Cuenca news, he got an assist today for the only goal Ajax scored. A decent bit of play too. He was getting dispossessed too easily though, mainly because of his rustiness I think. That can quickly improve, I feel.

I don't think they are either. You just have to look at the number of canteras Pep brought into the squad and made starters. I know we merely played half a season, but still.

To be fair it's Titos first season and he's spending half of it on another continent. Roura may have ideas of his own but he's not likely to do anything radical.

Cuenca played for Ajax today ??

Have I missed something , is he on loan ??

I thought he was still recovering from his injury ..

Do you guys think he'll be a regular starter for Ajax? I know fuck all about Ajax (besides what I've heard about them playing a similar style to us), so yeah.

it looks like Ajax really trust Cuenca because they started him on his very first game after recovering from a serious injury. he just arrived at Ajax just last week and now he's already starting a game.

i think so, i read somewhere (probably on here?) that their current wingers arent playing so well this season. Plus im guessing he had a bunch of offers from other teams as well, so i doubt he'd agree to join them if he wasn't guaranteed a lot of playing time.

Ajax doesn't have a decent right winger. They have been using Derk Boerrigter(LW) and Jody Lukoki(RW) on that position this season. Both really poor footballers, with speed as their only weapon. They also have Miralem Sulejmani(RW) but he isn't getting any playing time due his contract running out this summer.

Cuenca just coming back from his knee injury is still atleast 10 times better than Boerrigter and Lukoki. Next match is thursday against Boekarest in the Europa League, I think he will play around 60 to 70 minutes there and from then on ready for 90 minutes.

This pretty much sums it up.

His assist today:

Match itself was disappointing;

Roda JC only had one shot on goal and that was enough for a point.
