Not really. The fact is as long Iniesta is on the pitch it works no matter who the other 2 are, without him its disaster.

D.Suarez fits the Barca "MF" type more as he is a short guy who can handle the ball in tight spaces under presure, thats something Rakitic was never good at (partially due to his height).

If the right MF is going to keep walking the right sideline then Suarez is a better option. If the RMF was to be allowed the things LMF is then it would be another story.

Denis isn't as good as Rakitic defending, which is what Raki does the most these days. When facing a team that apply pressure, Denis can be a liability.

Its more that Iniesta is so far above all our other midfielders it doesnt really matter who we put next to him becouse...they are just not good enough.
Rakitic is just a bystander when Iniesta plays.
Our midfield is:

----Iniesta-Messi
---------------------------Rakitic
----------Busi

When Iniesta doesnt play:

XX------------------------------------xxx
--------------Messi
---------------Busi

When we had Xavi it was more:

---------Messi
----Iniesta
--------------Xavi
--------Busi

Probably because he reminds you (and me ) of Puyol's dedication :)

You mentioned Puyol. I often think about Puyol and what made him great. The game, like other sports, has become very analytics driven but how can you capture heart, passion, dedication in stats?

I think we actually don't have enough players like Puyol, Dani, Pedro in the current squad and it is a big disadvantage. These players had fire burning inside of them from the first whistle to the last. They were not afraid of making mistakes, and if they did make a mistake, it wouldnt send them into a slump.

I don't have any problem with what you said. It's ok comparing their characters and professionalism, we all know that Xavi was overall a better player (for me he's a top 3 midfielder of all times) but Raketa is also very good. He's just a bit out of form this season but I believe we'll see the best version of him soon.

I'm over the edge with him. He did great when we were great, but just not working in current "system". I wouldn't mind him leaving if we could get more creative player.
Yeah, sorry to say that...waited so long to see my countryman in Barca, but this is not working. He cannot make the difference and this is exactly what we need beside Iniesta.
When he's turned away from the goal, he's totally clueless and panics.

The way the team is playing, I doubt even verratti would make a difference right now. Need to change the coach first.
