Arthur apparently not even in tomorrow's squad ...

I'd still bench Rakitic and go with a midfield of Coutinho/ Busqs/ Vidal

We can have a nice variety of options and Valverde will still refuse to bench Rakitic.

The man has a blood oath with Raktiic.

Lol I find it so funny when people like you try to compare BUSQUETS, a legend, a genius, one of the DM GOATs, a guy who’s been great for us for the last 10 years and who belongs to the same category of players as Xavi and Iniesta... with Rakitic who’s biggest achievement in this club was being a water carrier in the only full successful season we had post Guardiola. It worked that year cause he had another GOAT named Dani Alves, who did all the creative work on that right flank. Basically did Rakitic’s job.

Busquets is the undisputed starting DM of 2 of the greatest teams ever (Barca 2008-2012 and Spain 2009-2012). And he still is to this day the best DM in the world. So it’s okay for a legend like that to have 30 bad games out of 500.

What’s even funnier is when you compare Rakitic a 30 years old dude who’s been gifted a starting spot at Barca since 2014 with Arthur a 20 years old lad who came from Brazil 2 months ago. That’s very telling about how bad Raki is for a long time Barca starter.

Rakitic isn’t good at defending, he isn’t good at creating and he isn’t good at attacking. You don’t believe me ? If you can’t see it by yourself during Barca games, then check the statistics.

Duels won by our midfielders against PSV:

Busquets : 14/18
Vidal : 14/20
Rakitic : 1/4

Not only is he bad at defending, he doesn’t even try anymore. The dude is simply hiding on the pitch !

What a LOAD OF BULLSHIT! LOL!!! The guy takes a PSV statistics as a benchmark, and some people like that post! One of them Xaviniesta whose only purpose in this forum is to troll in this thread. What a comedy show! :rofl1::rofl1:

What a weak come back...
"LOAD OF BULLSHIT" ? Explain why so, show me where I'm wrong if you can. That's why a forum exists in the first place. Key word: debate.

If everybody on this forum starts to quote big exposing texts and answer it with "LOL BULLSHIT WHAT A COMEDY :rofl1::rofl1:" like you, then we should put an end to barcaforum right here right now. Show me what kind of contribution you can bring to the table, Raketa. I'm an open minded guy, I'll read with pleasure.

Busquets is closer to Pique than Xavi or Iniesta

Busquets is easily top 10 GOAT DMs, probably top 5 even.
Piqué is just one of the best CBs of his generation (top 10).
Rakitic isn't even one of the best CMs of his generation.

Busquets has always been underestimated though, y'all will see once he retires.

Is Rakitic a workhorse? This acclaim often gets touted as a redeeming factor for his lack of offensive output. But how much should we really value this quality of his? With UEFA's statistics on distance covered this season in the Champions League, it's pretty simple to evaluate his workrate in light of comparable players.

Rakitic runs 118.3 metres pr. minute played. Here's how some of the others midfielders of Champions League do:

Pjanic: 133.2
Fabian Ruiz: 130.5
Hamsik: 135.3
David Silva: 125.8
Kroos: 127.9
Saul: 125.5
Arthur: 125.2
Goretzka: 129.7
Koke: 133.2
Eriksen: 133.7
McKennie: 131.65
Gabriel (Benfica): 130.7
Dier: 127.5
Delaney: 133.6
Brozovic: 137.1
Sow: 134.9
Matic: 127.9
Stepanenko: 129.0

How many of those play 4500 mins. in a season? That's 50 full games. How much you play matters. Proper rest through rotation increases the workrate of a player. The more games you play during the season, the less fresh you are, the more tired your legs are.

Raktic has been played non-stop by the manager. Whenever available he played 99% of the time.

There might be different reasons for why Rakitic runs less in a match than others and one of them might very well be that he's being overplayed. My point is that, as it stands now, it makes no sense to have him on because of his workrate.

Rakitic imo when rested and sharp physically is a very good midfielder. Problem is he's been played into the ground basically. He probably is the midfielder with the most minutes played per season.

When you have 30something year old players, you need to rest them often so they can be sharp for the big games.
