I also want him to stay but to be fair he will start to decline in the next season or two so if we want to sell next summer is the only chance. If he ends up staying I only hope that Valverde will learn how to rotate.
You know, I'm not sure. Yes, if we want to make money, it's now or never. But, can we go into the season with the midfield of Busquets, Arthur and De Jong? One of which is a complete unknown. He could make it right from the start, as Arthur did, take time to adjust, possibly a season. Better players than him did, Modrić for instance. Or fail completely. Not to mention that everyone sees him in different light. Some as Barca's DM, others as a CM and some go even a step further. The point of this: who knows what Valverde has in mind.
What if he can't handle the task? Who's on the bench to fill Raki's shoes? Vidal? No, super sub and not much more. Alena? I'm doubtful, don't see him making it big as a CM anytime soon. I say if you have to sell Raki (to make money or whatever), sign Rabiot. He's somewhat similar, possibly enough to fill the void.
But I'd rather just keep Ivan.
People who think that 19y old Puig or 21y old Alena can replace him so easily don't understand football at all. Basically all our attacks agaist RM went through him. I am really keen to see Puig or Alena making forward runs and scoring against RM while covering Messi's back and helping Sergi Roberto keep Vinicius quiet like Raki did.
Alena's with the team, if he performs well enough to warrant the spot, hats off, I'll personally drive Ivan to wherever he's headed. The problem is: he won't. And Puig's not worth debating. He's far from being in the squad, leave alone starting for Barca (which most likely will never happen anyways).
