We are spoiled as fans if we think Rakitic is an ordinary player. He would walk into United best 11 and be one of their best 3 players instantly. The problem is that we were always asking for him to be a main violin in midfield, when he's in fact a great supporting act, for the type of midfielder we've always missed since Xavi, and partly Iniesta, left.

Add that to the very little amount of rest he's had under Valverde, playing even rushed from injuries, and hence the often unjustified criticism. I've always said a rested and fully fit Rakitic is a very good, well-rounded midfielder.

Vidal Busquest Rakitic is the best midfield that can be played. shocking but true.
Barca need rakitic at his best in the next coming months. I believe him and messi are the key to success.
The others such as buquests, pique can play with thier eyes closed. I wouldn't worry about them.

Messi is carrying the team and can't afford Rakitic to underpeform. He needs to step it up which I think he is capable of.

That is a good midfield for a counter-attacking setup based on defending and playing on the break with speed, with Messi, Dembele and Suarez. It's not a great midfield for playing on the front foot looking to dominate the ball and create chances from positional play.

Especially if the opponent parks the bus.

We played that midfield against Bilbao away and it was probably one of the worse midfield performances of the season.

Yea. What we need is for Busi to play well, and Arthur to get past his slump. Lots of rest is required if we beat AM.

But, even in his average match, he made more (or an equal number of) assists than some way better Barca's midfielders did in the whole season.

Strange.

Also, another interesting stat:
Rakitic alone has more assists (7) this season than the other two midfield starters combined together (Arthur 1, Busi 2).

Strange again.

arthur was useless after the red
busquets as-well

but overall a bad display from the midfield as a unit.

I liked his game. Arthur - Busi - Rakitic is the midfield for United. Vidal as a sub for Arthur if we are in front in min 60 or so.
